Hi. We recently returned from a holiday abroad. Started up washing machine. It is a Miele W5740 fairly old, all went fine until near the end of the washing cycle it stopped with technical problem showing in display window. I started it up again and heard a high pitch whining sound. I realised that it sounded like a drive motor running without a load. Stripped it down and found drive belt had come off pulley. I ordered new genuine part drive belt and fitted it. Started machine up drum turning perfectly, but it was on the spin cycle and stopped after about 5 seconds later with the same technical fault showing in the display window. I checked the filter and extract pump impe…

Purchased machine in January this year, my mum realised a there was a bump/ lump in rubber door seal - see pic. Samsung are saying they don't cover the seal in the guarantee - had several calls to and from. Unfortunately been over 28 days since delivery when mum noticed the lump. What could this mean? Water isn't leaking? Is it bad to keep using the machine? Please help and advise!

Hello to you all and thanks in advance for taking the time to help me with my issue. I have the Samsung Eco Bubble wf70f5e2w2x that currently has some power issues. I turn on the device, select the programme and press start. The machine starts it's usual precedure such as locking the door and starting to fill and then I hear the power off tone the machine plays when you turn it off. It then turns itself back on, and then off again and so forth. It's now the 2nd day and now it doesn't even play the tune any more and just cuts in and out in a few seconds interval. I have ensured that the water flow is good and that the filter is also clear from debr…

Hello everyone,I'm a desperate woman suffering from excessive lint/dust with my laundry as the title suggest and here is the story in short hoping i'd get some help. I've basically been doing laundry all my life. Since early teenage years, it was my responsibility so one could say i know how to do laundry. When my boyfriend and i moved in together, we had a complete empty flat "a brand new one, we were the first tenants". The first hing we've purchased were the essentials, fridge, an LG washing machine, and a bed. this is when the nightmare started, i would see (purplish color) lint on the corners of the floor. Initially i thought this was from the central Air condit…

I bought this last 2017. when I start the program, this code comes after 1 sec, so its very fast. pump is fine, if I put water inside machine, it will pump out. what did I do. 1. clean water intake 2.clean filter I even took out all hoses behind filter. I did google it, and they talk about a water level pressure, I dont know much about that. but maybe someone knows, because this error comes after 1 sec, and first thing it do after on it, its let water out, and spin a few times not letting water in. I can attach a video if nessesary. a technical guy who want to fix our machine said its solenoid-controlled valves, and he can change that,…

Not a question, this is a result that I found that might help someone. I have the above washer dryer that wouldn't fill when a programme was started, the drum turned as if in a cycle. This would happen with any programme that I turned it onto. I was at my wits end and nearly was thinking of buying a new machine. I then remembered somewhere about resetting the machine memory by pressing the 'Start/Pause' button continuously. I watched the LED light cycle through green then amber then back to green again. When I started a programme again the water filled as normal. I don't know if this works for other makes of machine. So again: 1. With the washing …

I have a Bosch WFK2801GB/01 machine circa 1996/7 and the bearings have gone on the motor (it's a 1400 max spin motor). Before I go down the motor replacement route (expensive or poor second hand one), I want to consider the possibility of a swap, so I was wondering if anyone knows if there is another motor or armature that could be used as a replacement for this machine? Has anyone compiled a list of compatible Bosch motors or armatures? My thoughts are, finding a compatible motor would be more difficult than finding a compatible armature, as surely there must be another Bosch armature that would fit this model's motor? The idea being a compatible armature would…

Hi Just finished wash cycle with a 15 yo miele with no previous signs of a problem ; first there was a humming noise , then a loud bang , then a smell of smoke! Could you please suggest what may have happened ? ; I have to decide whether to call in a Miele engineer at high cost or write off the machine depending on if you think a repair is feasible based on what you think went bang! Many thanks

Our Bosch WAN28150GB is 2.5 years old and has stopped spinning. We suspect it might be the brushes that need replacing. It will drain and when I tested it with a light t-shirt it could spin, anything heavier is too much to handle and it just stops (and makes a slight click/beeping sound.) Is it worth getting an engineer in or better purchasing a new one? Anything else I can try first?

Hello Andy hopefully you can view and here this video: samsung washing machine inverter motor.mp4 Does this sound extra noisy to you for an inverter motor on my Samsung as far as they go? (ignore the drain pump sound in the background that is graunching / running empty) had a lovely quiet Hotpoint machine with an invertor motor before when belt was detached you wouldnt even know that the motor was turning it was that quiet. its obviously not a fault on this Samsung washing machine so it would not be worth getting an engineer out and the machine is working perfectly anyway - its Just i can hear it , that scraping/shrill noise, when the washin…

We got our new washer in June LG Turbowash™ FWV686STE and I must say I’ve been disappointed since. First of all despite perfect levelling and it vibrates like crazy on spin. I can literally hear it upstairs. It doesn’t happen with all the loads though so I don’t know what’s the problem. There seem to be hardly any water in the drum when it washes, clothes don’t have any residue luckily. Last thing is that our washed washing never really smell for long. It does have a nice smell when I open the door but once it dries, the smell goes away. There’s no any smell at all. We’ve used several detergents and it’s the same with all of them. I’ve been really thinking a…

I have a Siemens iQ500 washer/dryer - WD14U520GB. If you try to start any program, the time comes up, it starts to fill, then just stops. After about 2 minutes, sits there the resets to the beginning of the program. if you try to do anything, the start/pause button disappears and the door lock symbol shows. The only way to recover from this is to power the m/c off and power it back on, sometimes you have to wait a long period before it will power back on. There is definitely nothing in the filter. I have checked the outlet is clear all the way to the outside drain. I can use just the drain function, but if I try to add spin, you get the same sort of scenario. I …

Hi. I have a Bosch series 8 washing machine that has developed a noise. I have checked and cleaned the filter, so no problem there. It only makes the noise when spinning. I have removed the back and from what I can hear it is coming from the motor. This makes sense as it’s only noisy when spinning and instantly stops when the drum start to slow down. Any advice on what this could be / if I’m on the right track would be much appreciated. Cheers

Hello all, After following these excellent instructions from @bob12241 and @jonboyuk, I have tested the D7 diode (faulty) and will be replacing it to try to get my Beko WDIR7543101 going again. At the same time, I thought i'd have a go at fixing the long-standing problem with the dryer and was hoping for some help. The issue is that it cuts out after a few minutes of running. I've not used it in over a year now but since I had the machine open and multimeter in hand, here's the readings I got from testing the following parts: A. Element: 39.8 ohms B. Thermostat/Cutout 1: 0.01 ohms C: Thermostat/Cutout 2: 0.01 ohms D: Motor: 46.1 ohms These reading…

I got called to help by a relative when her washing machine failed. Took the back off and found the belt had come off. Out the belt back on and it seemed to work but when a small load was placed in and it started a high speed spin it got very loud and clattery before throwing off the belt again. Any suggestions what the issue could be before I start randomly replacing bits?

I have read this is a condense chamber issue solinoid or blockage but the machine is brand new. It's washing perfectly. We are using a garden hose as a extension to reach the faucet. It makes no sense this could be the issue, as it's washing perfectly but thought bears mentioning. Could it possibly be the issue? Any other ideas?

Hello! Long time lurker here with a query. I have a 30 month old Beko WY124PT44MW. I've noticed that between actions on a cycle, wash/rinse/spin, it'll drain for less than a second then take in water for less than a second. It does this several times then it seems to remember what it's supposed to be doing! There's no issue with it completing the wash programme though it always adds time on at the rinse stage which I know it'll do if it thinks it needs it. I replaced the pump a few months ago, which was a PITA as this machine has no kick plate. However the hose connections on the new pump didn't match the old but I got all connec…

Hello, I have a Philco Norma 4x cloth washer which keeps tripping the breaker after having operated for half to 1 hour. After I leave it off for at least 15 minutes and turn it on again, it continues it's cycle, until the end. (a few times, it may trip the breaker a second time). This happens when I use the temperature switch for washing with warm water. It does not happen when I wash with cold water (temperature switch set to 0). This made me think that there is some fault with the water heater resistance element. I replaced it with a new one and still keeps tripping the breaker. The old resistance element that I replaced, was showing about 25 Ω resis…

A clanking noise is produced when spinning the drum by hand and at the start of a wash cycle. There is also a noise, presumably from the same source, under the slapping of the washing during a wash cycle. There is no undue noise when spinning and there does not appear to be any play in the bearing. The machine is 7 years old. Any ideas? Thanks. Clanking.mp4 Wash cycle.mp4

I've had this indesit iwdc6125 for about 5 years, so I accept that it is getting a bit old but I would rather not throw it out if there is a fix: Running a wash cycle on some towels it was getting towards the end when something happened and the RCD in the house tripped. Now I find that the washer won't spin the drum. It tries - you can see the drum torque a bit and then it gives up. Then it just makes a brief "electrical" noise and then stops again. I have replaced the carbon brushes in the motor because that was easy and cheap. With the drive belt removed the motor seems to spin fine. If I run a spin programme you can hear the motor spin up to speed, stay there…
