Black Marks On Clothes

I have had black marks on clothes when I have washed them. I read on some sites that I should carry out a maintenance wash to get rid of any grime or build up which I did. I did this with a normal powder detergent and at 90. However there are now small black particles of grime or gunge floating in the machine when it is in the rinse cycle. I have put it on rinse 3 times now with no clothes in and the particles of dirt or gunge are still there. Could this be the cleaning I have done has released this dirt into the drum? I am reluctant to put a wash on with clothes as these particles or gunge will mark the clothes. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks

I have a bosch exxcel washer dryer, around 4 years old. It has been getting stuck at the end of the cycle on 1 minute on most cycles, but always works on super quick programme with no problems. Over the weekend, even the super quick is failing to drain the water away, with water sat in the drum. The filter is clear. Out of curiosity, I disconnected the waste pipe from its normal drain point (it is normally connected to the u-bend of the waste pipe from the kitchen sink). The trap and pipework are clear, and and although there is a bit of gunk on the inside of the hose - it appears to be clear. The sink drains very rapidly - i.e. if I fill it and take the plug out it…

I have a Hotpoint First Edition 1200 and it keeps tripping the electricity. Originally the machine would stick mid cycle when the motor was supposed to turn the drum. found the brushes to be worn so replaced them with genuine spares. I even did some continuity testing on the motor, all ok. it ran fine to start with but now when the motor has to do a high speed spin it trips the electric. re-checked for continuity and all ok. TOC is fine as well. I've watched it run without the lid on and at high speed the motor sparks like a beast, looks like a small flame kicks in (orange spark in colour) and then trips. Any ideas? thanks!

Hi, as the title suggests I have a hotpoint WD62 that is tripping the mains. The machine will trip the mains once the water level has reached a certain level. Manually emptying some of the water allows the machine to complete a drain, spin and dry cycle so it is definitely not the motor or dryer heater element. What could be causing this? I had suspected the heater element but feel that is unlikely as once just a small amount of water has been removed it stops tripping and can complete a drain, spin, and dry cycle without issue. I suspect that possibly be some of the wiring from the pressure switch has lost its insulation and is causing a short when the pressure sw…

I have checked with the trouble shooting guide and not found a solution to my problem. My washing machine starts when I press the start button. When I try to cancel a programme, the lights all flicker to a preiod of time and it refuses to cancel. Since it does start, would you consider this a problem with the front control panel or a communication problem with the rear PCB? Unsure which to change first. Thanks.

I have a Hotpoint BWD129 washer dryer. It has started getting some of the wash and dry cycles mixed up on the cycle selector. For example if I try to just dry or rinse, it starts a full wash cycle. It also fails to dry at the end of a wash/dry cycle, although I can get the dryer to work separately. Sometimes it will not complete the rinse at the end of a wash cycle, leaving the washing wet. It also does not now dry very well, although I have had the dry cycle checked and have been told by an engineer that it is reaching the right heat level. Is this a PCB fault? I am thinking of trying a new PCB as a last resort

Hi, my washer made a lot of noise during the drain cycle, I have noticed in the debris filter bits of chewed up plastic and gravel like consistency plastic. The washer made thumping noise and when I tried using it again it began leaking lots of water. Any ideas?

I have an Indesit WIXL 163 that is about 4 years old. When I set the machine to hot wash (90 degrees) all the LED lights flash and the machine cuts out. When set to 40 degrees the machine fills and goes into the wash cycle but the wash cycle continues endlessly until I stop it manually. If I then manually set it to rinse and drain the machine completes these cycles. I have tried checking and cleaning the filter and drain hose but to no avail. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Hi. I hope someone might be able to offer some advice... we have an 8yr old Hotpoint WMA58P washing machine from new. recently it was getting really noisy on spin, so i bit the bullet and ordered a set of drum bearings and thought, while i've got it apart, i'll replace the motor brushes for good measure. Taking it all apart, i labelled both the connections and the plugs so i knew where to put everything back, then stripped everything out. I successfully replaced both the brushes and bearings and put it all back together. the washer worked before i took it all apart, just very noisily. While dismantling it, I noticed the motor brushes had ALOT of soot and were very worn…

i have the above washing machine and it recently started makin a funny noise when pumping the water out of the drum. So following the DIY help on here i replaced the pump as it was still making noises after cleaning the filter. After installing the pump i turned the power back on and noticed a buzzing sound from the main power cable so traced this and fixed the problem (plug wasnt wired up the best). After fixing that the washing machine only half works, it will spin the drum but it will not pump the water into the washing machine (yes its got a good feed of water, went through the DIY section for about an hour checking everything in it). dont know if the pump is workin…

I bought a second hand Servis washer dryer (M9824S) from Ebay thinking I could fix the problem of it not wanting to fill (?blocked pressure chamber). Thing is I have googled everything on here now and still it refuses to fill with water at the start of a program! It starts with the pump kicking in for a few seconds(which it should) - then nothing! If I leave it about 20 seconds, the pump kicks in again. I have checked pressure switch (blew down the pipe both ends, it clicked as it should), ALL wire connections on whole of machine(all are connected and none seem broken), cleaned out pump, PCB all seems connected with no burnt out capacitors/wires(actually looks new), a…

Hi I have a Hotpoint WMT03 which was periodically not performing the final spin. It decided to forget the final spin altogether last week while making a racket like a bag of marbles was in the drum. I firstly checked the brushes and they look fine with plenty of wear left and no scorching. The commutator also feels good and smooth. After i popped the motor back in any program choice now always results in the same. It starts off with a spin straight away say only 5-8 revolutions then a pause of 10-15 seconds or so then another short spin and end program light comes on. I replaced the bearings as they needed doing and no other parts looked broken, burned or otherwise dama…

Hi to all. As a newbie on theis forum I humbly ask for some help with my washing machine. Firstly have had a look in the washing machine fault FAQ's which were most helpful, though did not solve the problem, though may point to a solution, just need to ask before I spend money I have'nt got. I have an Indesit WT82T of 2002 vintage. It is very similar to the Hotpoint WTL500P though with 800 spin speed. The machine was installed in a property in France for about 6 months then put into storage for 9 years. Having read the section on fault codes I proceeded to see if the machine would be forthcoming and give me one. Any way this is what it does. Set the programmer to a spo…

On a Hoover New Wave 1100 model AC170. Over the last week I have been getting error E1 when trying to carry out a wash. I normally run program 5 (non-fast coloureds). When I ran the program today, I noticed that the error came up about ten seconds after the main wash cycle, as it was starting to empty. I re-ran it on a different program, and again it stopped about ten seconds into the emptying cycle. I changed the program to a fast spin, and the machine emptied correctly without any error, and ran the spin cycle fully. Not sure therefore where the fault is and how much further testing I can do before trying to take the machine apart. Any suggestions?

Hi My 2 month old Hotpoint has a dent that has appeared on the bottom right hand side of the front panel. About 2" from the door. It's protuding outwards as if something has hit it internally. It's about the size of a ten pence piece. Any ideas or has anyone else had this happen? Has something come off the drum at highspeed maybe?
