Hi all! I am looking for a suggestion of a model of washing machine where what i want to do will be possible. I am looking for something not too big (6-8kgs max) Due to the low mains power availability on a boat, I cannot use the electric heating elements, however I have a gas boiler (and engine) to provide hot water as well as a diesel heater to provide hot air. So i would like to modify this washing machine to bypass the electric elements, run straight from hot water and the drier to run from the air piped from the diesel heater If cars are anything to go by these days i would assume washing machines would get upset when you go diconnecting…

I've narrowed down my options to Miele "honeycomb" vs the Siemens(Bosch) "wavedrum" ... with Samsungs "diamond drum" also in the running. Any experience/thoughts on these? Thanks

I have recently had an integrated machine installed (a Zanussi Z716WT83BI Washer Dryer). The installer has continued the kitchen skirting around the front of the machine. According to the diagrams in the user manual, this obscures the pump and it's filter from being accessed. Am I being stupid, or is this the case? Has the installer made a mistake which means I can't access the pump and filter to clean it?

Do I need External filter to use it with my washing machine? The seller told me that you need filter before the water goes to the washing machine to protect the machine. I'm not sure if i need one just because I have a filter near my water tank (here we use water tanks to get water) do I need to add the extra filter I should I ignore it?

I've recently moved into a new flat and bought a washing machine. Come to install it, and there's nowhere for the outlet pipe to go. It's in a kitchen with a section of space for the washing machine where the hot/cold inlets are, but nowhere for the outlet. Under the sink there's a pipe where I guess it could go but no way for it to reach. I appreciate it's difficult to suggest anything without seeing it but does anyone have any suggestions? I've no idea what to do.

I am doing some research for the cost of running a 9kg and 7kg washing machine. This is on behalf of a community in a residential home. The cost of one wash in the laundry room is £2.00. This feels very high. The residents are a captive audience, have health problems that amount to medical reasons for having to do more washing and are physically unable to take washing out into private laundrettes. For most of the residents, there is no room for, nor plumbing, for privately owned machines. Additionally, we are advised the load capacity is that of commercial machines but according to information, the kg loads of 9kg at the most, is that of a large family machine. …

Sorry for the long post but I hope someone can help/advise! We need a slim depth washer dryer for our new place, needs to be slimmer than 57cm and actually be able to dry as we will be unable dry stuff outside etc. We don't have enough space for a separate tumble dryer so his is our only option really! Also don't want to spend a lot, probably £600 is our limit and even that's steep for us! We've been looking at Beko however should we stay away due to their rep? The model I'm looking at (WDR85P14N1W) is rated pretty highly by both Which and reviewers alike however I'm concerned about reliability??? Also looking at Zanussi and John Lewis 1614, Belling and may…

How long is the anti-crease cycle in a Miele Premier Novo washing machine? I've just acquired this machine and am currently running a cycle and am wondering if the anti-crease cycle only finishes when I switch the machine off.

The slower your washing machine spins the better. It will be cheaper to buy, quieter, should be more reliable and should last longer. However, it's not much use if the laundry is dripping wet so there has to be a certain spin speed that gives optimum results. Washing manufacturers wont tell us what the optimum spin speed is because they charge extra for spin speed and the faster they spin the more they can charge. What are your thoughts and experiences on the best spin speed for a washing machine? Please read the full topic before discussing - washing machine spin speeds

Hi everyone, my old Miele Novotronic Premier 520 has died after many years I bought it originally because it had a button on the the top panel that opened the washer door. This was so useful as I have arthritis and can't tug at doors to open them. Anyone know if any washers on the market have similar push button door openings, or at least easy to open doors. Have tried a few and couldn't manage them. Thanks in advance

Hi all, My friend is looking for an extremely large capacity washing machine for her home. She is american, so used to the larger offerings available over there. She largely wants this as she has dogs so often chucks their entire beds and blankets in. So, I think what she mainly needs is large volume (litres) rather than necessarily weight - and that's the first problem. UK machines are largely advertised by weight. I've seen 10kg (commercial machines) with, when you dig into it, bigger drum sizes than 13kg ones. grr. So hard to find. I also need one that will fit with a domestic installation - ie not 3 phase power! Best I've found is this, but it is a br…

I've put up with creased clothes and bedding since I got my Hotpoint Aquarius washer/dryer a few years ago! Nightmare! This didnt happen with my previous AEG washer/dryer or any machine of the past! Just started having guests and couldn't even iron out creases. So thought I would research again issue and look into getting new machine. To my horror it seemed all new machine brands were experiencing this nightmare! I learnt after reading many posts that they are all reducing water in wash....anyway I tryed the following and it worked!!!!! 1. I added about 1.5 liters of water to the drum before before wash started. 3. Did just under 2/3 load ...…

My washing machine has only cold water inlet. What if I connect hot water to this cold water inlet? I mean it anyway heats the cold water to (usually) 40C. Wouldn't it be better to supply the hot water directly, less electricity required for heating.

Hello I bought this whirlpool machine a couple of weeks ago: 3LWTW4705FW It’s hot and cold supply. The appliance specialist who sold me it told me to arrange a hot supply. I did that but it’s off a small electric water heater used for a sink. He fitted the machine. Now there’s an issue with the capacity of the heater as I could smell burning plastic. Is there any way of telling how big a heater you need to run the machine? The manual isn’t helpful other than pressure figures. Also, could a Y piece be used to make the two inlets use cold supply? I’ve read that this works in other machines. thank you!

Hi all - I kind of remember reading about a service feature on my AEG washer where I could display the actual temperature sensor reading on the display while running a normal wash - so without entering the diagnostic mode with no laundry loaded. Can anybody help? Thanks!

Hi I'm planning to install a new kitchen within the next few months to include an integrated washing machine. Unfortunately my stand alone washing machine has just broken beyond repair. Should /can I purchase a new integrated machine without cupboard doors to use now and then get the doors added when the kitchen gets installed. Apologies if this is a naïve question but don't want to make an expensive mistake. Thanks

Fed up with having grey tee shirts, I bought new white ones and only washed them with themselves or with newer white tee shirts. Trouble is I do do gardening and construction work, so they probably do get sweaty and dusty. I have a cheap old Bush washing machine I was given and don't intend to replace until it breaks but it seems to work and wash quite well, as far as I can tell. I wouldn't say it's worse in wash perfomance than the old Miele that I managed to lose (long story). I have used Dr Beckmann Glowhite in the past, but it seems too expensive to use in every wash and did not seem to do anything obvious. Given the environmental issues associate…

I live in a remote area with a private power supply Where we are not allowed to use anything electrical that heats water, or uses more than 1KW. My hot water is heated by an instantaneous gas water heater. I have been using a 20 year old Whirlpool machine with hot and cold inlet, but recently the drum spider broke on it and I am unable to get a replacement part as they are now obsolete. So I've been searching for a replacement machine with a hot and cold fill. I've found a couple in the UK but nothing in Ireland (IE) where I am. Is there a list anywhere of the models that have a hot and cold water inlet? Some sites list this under the spec's but you can't searc…

I've been recently active on the repair forum, but running out of options. I'm annoyed both with the manufacturer of a machine that lasted ~3 years, but more angered by the industry's use of sealed tub that seems specifically to prevent repairs and ensure I need a new machine (whilst the same manufacturers have the audacity to shout loudly about their 'green' credentials!) I'm coming to terms with the fact I'll probably need a new machine, mainly governed by the amount of clean pants I currently have. Un-impressed at the options available to me I'm looking wider at some alternatives. My primary considerations is environmental impact of manufacture/shipping of th…

This may or may not be the wrong forum for this question but.... 1. I have been told by someone I know that runs a pub with letting rooms that she must wash all bedlinen for her rooms on a 60 degree cycle. I don't know if this is by law, or because her pub chain demands it, and can't ask her unfortunately. I can't find any HSE guidance on the matter and wondered if anyone here knew? I can only assume this is for control of bacteria. 2. I run a holiday let business and we're expanding with three new shepherd's huts this year. We have decided to do our own laundry as we can't find a reliable, quality linen service locally, which means investing in several w…

I recently bought a Hoover Dynamic WDXOA485 8kg washer/dryer and I am somewhat concerned that the advertised 8kg drum size is inaccurate. I bought it as a replacement for my previous 8kg washer/dryer so I know how big an 8kg drum should look, yet the drum for this new machine looks significantly smaller, and can only take 8kg of washing if I literally cram the clothes in so tightly that the drum is jam packed meaning the clothes would not move at all during the wash, and I cannot fill it with more than 5kg if I am to ensure that the clothes have some movement during the wash. I also recently tried to dye a sofa cover weighing 3kg in the machine and that was a total…
