I have a 15 month old Hotpoint WDL520 Aquarius washing machine which works perfectly. But I've just noticed a large scratch on the internal glass of the door. You can feel it - it's like a groove has been scratched into it - ie it's not a crack. It's black, although the glass is clear. The scratch goes from 9 o'clock to 3'oclock, on the bottom half of the glass. There's no scratch on the top half of the glass; I'm guessing this is because of the shape of the internal glass - it's recessed on the top half. The only thing I can imagine which has caused this is the edge of the metal drum wobbling and banging into the door. If so, I don't know if it has happened over a p…

I bought a new washing machine for my wife: Samsung WF0804W8E 1400 rpm 8kg Bubble Wash Technology. Last week it was installed, after the first few tries my wife wasn't happy with the amount of bubbles, and the amount of water going into the machine. We got the installation guy back out to disconnect everything, he said everything was working fine and reconnected the machine. My wife is still unhappy with the amount of bubbles and water in the machine. There is a video on youtube of the same machine and there does seem to be a lot more water and bubbles during the cycles on the youtube video compared with ours. Can anyone please offer any advice? Thanks Dave

Our Beko WM5120 has been fine until the last day or so. Now, when we put it on to wash it don't appear to take any water into the drawer. I've checked the pipes and all appears to be fine, just that the machine won't take any in what so ever. Tried emptying the excess water from the filter at bottom of the machine, cancelled the programme and started a new one. The pump starts to kick in but again no water is taken in and so the pump just carries on until I turn it off or cancel the programme again. Any help will be much appreciated

What is the best way to clean dried on powder in the dispenser and also inside where the dispenser drawer goes. I have tried everything from white vinegar to soda crystals, scraping it off etc but nothing will work. Is there something that will dissolve it and get rid of once and for all?

I have an old Hotpoint WM52 which has given up doing the final fast spin on any programme. The motor works and drives the drum normally during the wash cycle, but won't go up to fast speed for the spin dry. This started as an intermittent fault but has now become permanent. The machine drains perfectly well - to be sure I cleaned out the drain filter and found only one small 5p coin in it (was hoping for a larger haul), removal of which has not changed anything. I have changed the brushes on the motor - even though they were only changed a year or so ago and I don't use the machine heavily I could see some sparking when the motor turned so for the sake of a few quid (…

Hi there, I'm hoping you can solve my problem. Since last week, the washing machine won't rinse. It needs to manually be advanced to spin to reach the end of the cycle. I also noticed today that no cold water is filling into the main wash tray (tray 2), i.e. a 30 degree wash was scalding hot and a cold wash doesn't work at all - no water. This led me to believe it could be the cold water valve. However, the machine does a cold pre-wash... We have hot and cold feeds to the washing machine and it has a two way cold water valve. Is it possible that the valve could work for the prewash (tray 1), but not the main wash (tray 2) or could the pipe to tray 2 simply be blocked? …

Hi, I don't know much about these things, but I've watched videos on YouTube over the last hour or so and they seem a lot more simple than I expected to fix them. My parents want to get a new one and I want to save the family money instead. Seems such a waste for what could be a simple fix. Basically, the washing machine trips the house electric. There is no sign of life whatsoever, however, the drum seems to roll freely when I move it with my hand. From what they tell me, it just cut out during a cycle after about 20 mins, tripped the electric, then when switched back on again, showed no life at all and again, tripped the electric. The socket isn't faulty, and the fuse…

The machine is a Indesit washer dryer Any help or advice would be appreciated Thank You

Hello community, i'm hopeful that you can give me some advice. I'll spare you the boring details, i'll just say I have a 3 year old boy and i'm 99% sure a penny has been put down the pipe where the detergent goes. My washing machine is a BEKO WM 5100 bought very recently. My question is: Should I take action regarding this penny before I use the machine? Will it cause the machine damage if I leave it be? Well thanks for your time....Oh and 3 year old boy free to a good home, fully toilet trained Aimee

Hi This is my first post here and i have read numerous other posts on fowl smells when it comes to washing machines. However i have not come across the issue i am now having. I have recently been suffering with a stale smell that has been affecting my whole house. The clothes have been smelling a little bit if left in longer than two hours however if i take them out straight away they smell lovely. Numerous times i have had to re-wash clothes due to scent not filth. So i washed the inside and outside of my washing machine including filter, draw, rubber lining and door. I then put my machine on for a boil wash with nothing inside to see what would happen. I am now get…

Hello, Can you help - have I got a problem in the making? I have a Hotpoint First edition 800 WM51, approximately 6 months ago a repairman replaced the brushes - all was fine until now ...... on the spin cycle I hear want I can only described as a clanking bouncing spring sound. If I move the drum back & forth from front to back it still makes the sound. Sorry really don't know how to describe the noise. I have looked through the faq's and can't find a mention of a similar problem. Is this a problem in the making and I will need to get a repairman or is it an age thing and i just have to live with it? Other than that it is a good machine and I have been told …

Hi All, When I wash my clothes in my washing maching, there are sometimes some red marks (looks a bit like dried blood) but more likely to be rust I guess, left on some of the lighter clothing. These marks are not easy to remove - and I seem to be writing off a lot of light shirts and t-shirts. Has anyone seen this problem before, and if so what is the best way of curing it. Any help would be gratefully appreciated. Kind regards, Akkers

I have read the topic on the website and have tried all of the recommended steps. I started having problems with the machine not draining, it would stop the cycle (before the conditioner was put in) and the LED blinks 3 times. I removed the filter and cleaned that out along with the outlet hose. The part of hose from the washer I put into a bucket and alot came out including two big clumps of fibre/lime scale/washing powder. The other half of the hose (connected with a join) I took off from the sink and flushed it right out. I also cleaned all of the pipes under the sink. Also I removed the hose between the drum and filter housing and cleaned that. This worked for 3 wa…

I have a problem with a Bosch ClassiXX 1400 Express washing machine. It completes the washing cycle no problem and you take the clothes out and they have been spun correctly. Problem is when I leave the washing machine on at night and go to bed, by the time I get up in the morning water has gone back into the washing machine and wet the clothes again. This only happens occasionally, not everytime. By the way I know it has nothing to do with the water pump as I have changed that recently to fix another problem. Any advice?

Hi, In my Miele Novotronic w839 the rinse water is left filled up after every washing program has completed so I can not fill it with new rinse. ie. If I run a wash program is it not supposed to leave the rinse compartment empty so one can fill it again for the next washing cycle? This was not an issue before, it has always worked. I have washed and cleaned the drawer to make sure the channels are clean from any dirt or so. I have also made sure the holes above the drawer are not dirty preventing the water from filling the drawer. Ideas? Cheers!

I inherited a Tricity Bendix AW 1460W from Granny. I don't think she had it for very long and would certainly only have had light usage. I have had it for 2 years and it does at least one load a day and I have found it very good. A month ago it got very noisy. Father-in-law had a look and reckoned it was damage to the bearing set which he was surprised by. I was less surprised as I had idiotically pulled the washing machine out by the drum and fear I may have caused the damage then. We are moving in August so as FIL told me it was safe just noisy I thought I could carry on using it until I moved and then look to replace or repair then. Last night it left a series o…

Our 6 year old ish Capel WMI1012 has recently destroyed the door seal (we were finding balls of rubber in the wash, and eventually strips of rubber). Initially couldn't find from where, but when the strips turned up, it was obvious it came from the door seal. I ordered a new door seal, and set to stripping it down and replacing it yesterday. However I noticed that the inner drum isn't quite running true to the outer drum, and am concerned that if this isn't normal, I could just destroy the door seal again. Can someone take a quick look-see at the following short video, see if this is abnormal or not. [link removed (broken)] I have since taken the back off, and the…

Can anyone help me? My Hoover OPH148 is heating up the water on every single washing cycle, even the 30 degrees cycle. The clothes are coming out hot and steaming, and I have ruined a couple of fleeces recently. The water is fed in cold (there is no hot water pipe in our utility room). I can't find any similar problems on the forums. Is this something that I can fix myself? Thank you

I have a Siemens WXD1260 washer dryer which I have had 7 years fault free service from, but which has now developed a problem. The washing mode still works perfectly fine, but when I use the dryer it now produces scalding hot steam from the soap drawer. I regularly use the dryer function for towels and sheets, but now my kitchen becomes a Turkish bath. I realise it is an old machine now and don't want to spend a lot of money on a repair when it might be better to buy a new one. Has anyone had this problem, know how to fix it or can offer any opinion?

Hi I have an Electrolux washer, however a couple of days ago it seemed to start working fine when empty, however it does not seem to work when we put clothes in it. I put in a Jacket and it went part way through cycle and then seemed to reset itself back to start of programme and hold itself there. I tried to spin my jacket (13 minute programme) but machine spun slowley for about 1 minute, stopped for about 1 minute, then slowley again. ( we tried this twice) , and at about the 4 - 5 minute mark again it seemed to reset back to start of programme (ie spin )and hold itself there I turned machine off, took jacket out, and set to spin whilst empty, and it wizzed round no…

Desperately hoping Andy is around to answer this! He seems to sort everyone out. Our dial seems to be the problem...selecting C or D, there is a noise like the programme is starting but thats it. No water, the drum won't fill and there's just a constant 'hum' as if it's trying to do something. If you turn the dial by a couple of millimetres then it will start to work properly...but then its on E which is the next programme!! So basically we don't have a programme that washes above 50degrees Help!! Thanks, Gus

Hi I have a Bosch washing machine (WAS68460GB) that won't power on and am wondering if there's a simple way to make it work. A technician from the gas company had to move the machine to get to the meter yesterday and since then it won't turn on. The dial doesn't do anything and the power button doesn't work. I've tested the plug socket and it works, and tried the machine in a different plug and finally replaced the fuse on the machine's plug. Any advise or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Sean
