Hi all I replaced my Washing Machine motor the other day after my wife had commented that it was very hard to turn the drum by hand after a wash. For a few months now the motor had been making alot of noise on full spin and i knew the bearings were on their way out, When i removed the motor it is very hard to move the shaft. When i had replaced the motor and put everything together, the Door lock Light is flashing and locks straight away. I am able to select a wash program, when I click start nothing happens Just a flashing door lock and 5 Bleeps. As soon as the mains is connected the door locks and will not unlock until mains is unplugged. I fitted a New Door lock N…

Bought a Hotpoint WMUD843P last year. We've only ever had Hotpoints. This is our third in 25 years. After a few weeks using the new machine we noticed the odd grey spot on washed clothing. The spots are on the surface of the clothing and are not grease because you can rub them off with your nail. Then after several months we noticed a build up of grey mush in the drum. It wipes off with a cloth. I recently cleaned the filter and found more there. In appearance it looks like mastic but was easy to pull off lumps which break up when squeezed between fingers. I could rinse the filter clean no problem. If left in the air the lumps dry out and shrink. I've run auto-clean. The …

Hi All, I think I have a faulty heating element (or associated relay) on my Bosch Maxx Lifestyle (WAE26470AU). If I disconnect a specific wire on the back of the control panel the cycle seems to proceed normally, but if I leave it connected it cuts out the 240v mains circuit to which it is connected with an RCD fault half a second after the motor engages. It doesn't happen on a cold wash. Can anyone take a look at the pics (with the disconnected wire highlighted) and confirm my theory? Here's a link to the pics (link) with a description below: Front panel. Shows control panel on right hand side of detergent bays Shows the back side of the control panel from inside the…

Hello. Hotpoint BHWD129 c.3 years old. For a while when set on dryer have gone to remove clothes and the machine is half full of water. Pumps out and dryer usually works properly. Happens roughly once a fortnight for the last few months. Today put a wash on and came home to a disco (!) on the panel with every light flashing. Wouldn't pump out so drained it manually. Cannot get the lid off the pre-chamber. Used pliers, wrenches and brute force! Won't pump out or spin but have put on a quick cycle. It stopped halfway through so had to empty again. Second cycle running now but am expecting the disco back any second. Any advice would be gratefully received - especially how to…

After hearing a strange noise coming from my washing machine tonight, I found a couple pieces of plastic caught in the drain pump filter. It turns out that one of the drum paddles has cracked and left a hole of about 15mm diameter. I've ordered a new paddle but the pictures of the part seem to show holes for 2 screw threads and I'm now guessing that removing the paddle is not as straightforward as I had assumed. I got hold of a service manual but can't see any instructions on how to remove that particular part. Does anyone have any experience of removing drum paddles for this model or can anyone give me any advice on how to go about it? I'm guessing that if screws are in…

My machine appears to be stuck on wash setting 12 regardless of what setting number you select. It does not allow me to "personalise" the wash cycle in any way. This is annoying as setting 12 is a cool wash and I like to use a 60degree wash for bed linen. The dial turns freely and I'm not sure if it should click between each setting or not as I can not remember if it ever did this. Reluctant to pay a call out fee as machine does still wash

Our Bosch Exxcel 1600 gives error code F04. We check the pump - nothing blocking impeller. Try again - F04. We check pump and outlet are clear. Try again - F04. Is there a cheat we can use to get a few more months use out of the five or six year old machine?

I have a couple of problems with my machine relating to the water. I had a repair man come out to fix the machine (pump issues) and when he left I put the machine on, and when the drum turned anti clockwise there was a loud clonking noise which stopped when it turned clockwise. After the cycle had finished the clunking noise hasnt started again since but Im wondering if this is to do with the water issues Im having? When I turn the machine on, the machine fills with water then drains a tiny amount out, then starts the cycle, is this normal? The machine is not filling with enough water, I looked in the manual and it said the water should be at the bottom of the door but …

Hi all, great forum. I didn't know one even existed I have a Bosch WAS28466GB/05 Washing Machine It is one of these 'Eco' machines which personally I think is rubbish. It never seems to wash clothes or rinse as well as my cheapo Beko machine. I believe the reason is that there never seems to be enough water in the machine. The water pressure is fine, no filters clogged etc It has always been like this since day one so I suspect its a design of the machine and not the actual pressure sensor. Is there anyway to alter this or allow the machine to fill with more water. There is an actual setting on the machine to allow more water but I can never tell the difference. T…

Hi there Our Beko WM5100W has a badly torn waste pipe I've found replacement waste pipes online but i'm struggling to understand how i go about removing the broken one from the back of the washing machine. It sounds simple enough but i cant grasp how, I'm confident with taking it apart depending on how much of it has to be disassembled.. I'm attaching two pictures of the back of the washing machine , hopefully this helps? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi, This is my first post, so please bear with me when I try to explain the fault! The first thing I have to say is that the above fault has been happening over the years. Under normal operation, this dot appears in place of the numbers when the door is open and the machine is on. I have solved this fault in the past by 'wiggling' the on/off switch or by wedging a matchstick in the on/off switch to hold the button in place. If the matchstick was removed then the dot would reappear. Today, the matchstick method didn't help either, so I decided to open up the machine and take a look. I took the switch apart, cleaned the components and put it back in, but that didn't hel…

I have a de error on my washing machine so I replaced the locking mechanism but the de error continues. What would be the cause of this. Would replacing the pcb board be the only other cause to this issue. The machine is a samsung J1045 7kg front loader. Any advice would be real helpful. Thanks.

Hello and thanks for a wonderful website. My girlfriend's washing machine has been working fine until recently when it's started taking way over the stated times to do the programs. For example the 29 minute wash takes 1hr 45 mins. The only thing she could tell me was that the clothes felt warm when they came out. I've carried out all the checks you suggest in your guides (ie: check it's plumbed in properly, check the height etc of the waste outlet etc). I checked inside the machine and it doesn't have a pressure pipe running from below the inlet to a pressure cell. It appears to have a small white disk with 2 wires coming from it which I have traced to the inlet swi…

Hello there, Having called the repairers out twice already to be told the grinding noise coming from my LG (front loading Direct Drive F1247TD5 washing machine) was 'user-error' (erm ?!?!) I decided to take a look myself. A low pitch, very loud, intermittent grinding noise (please hear attached). The noise sounds only during wash and rinse cycles Some days (rare) there is no sound, others and the noise is constant. The machine is 3 years old & I live alone WHAT HAVE I ALREADY TRIED? Checked pump filter (no blockage), Checked rotating part inside the pump is still 'firm', no wobbling and snaps back when pushed. Bot…

A little bit of a saga, I'm afraid. I've tried the advice on this site but my problem doesn't seem to be covered. My Bosch Exxcel 1200 gave up on spinning a few days ago. I checked the filter bay and the impellor was working ok and I removed a small bit of plastic that was sitting in the bottom. The area was almost as clean as the day it was maufactured; impressed! My attention turned to the motor. I had to put the machine on its side to get to it (the back panel only has the "teardrop" access panel to get to the belt). The brushes were badly worn, so I replaced them and disassembled the motor to clear out the carbon dust. I reassembled the motor, reassembled the machin…

Hi! I recently bought a second hand Aeg 56200 washing machine which seems to wash and spin OK with clothes in, but struggles to spin anything heavy like towels. On a cotton cycle when the machine is distributing before the spin starts, the drum doesn't seem to rotate fast enough so that the towels stick to the sides of the drum. Instead, the towels just seem to roll around the drum and end up in a ball. The machine usually spends ages doing this, then just abandons spinning altogether. Occasionally the machine will just start spinning regardless, with the drum assembly hitting the cabinet. This happens even if there are only two towels in it. Whilst this happens during…

Hi to all. Last Sunday the washing machine stopped & the following error appeared. Aqua Stop. So out with the torx drivers & took the top & back off. The bottom of the machine had filled with water. Fault traced to a hose popped off the drum. Replaced this and dried the bottom of machine. Switched on again a few hours later, and now on a wash cycle or spin the drum only rotates about a quarter turn this is accompanied with a loud high pitched squeal only it's not a squeal. Pulled the motor out & checked brushes, all good. Checked all terminals for resistance good except no reading for the speed sensor. Assumed this was the problem so purchased a reco…

Hi, I hope someone can help, I have an Indesit 6125 that will not empty the water, I have had to empty the water by tilting the machine back and taking the inspection panel off, the pump was not blocked at all. I removed the pump and checked it out with a meter which was ok, I also put a 240v supply on the pump and it ran very well with no noise or vibration. I can only assume that the machine is not sending power down to the water pump. After emptying the machine I tried to run it through another wash cycle which it does ok until it has to empty the water and then the same problem comes up - all the lights flash and the machine stops. Any ideas would be welcome a…

Hi there, Hoping someone could point me in the right direction about why my old but trusty Hotpoint WM63 leaves water in the fabric conditioner drawer once the machine has finished it's cycle. The amount of water left in the drawer only allows a small amount of fabric conditioner to be put in for another load. Any ideas? Thanks in advance Neil

Fault code appeared yesterday when arrived home. Did another wash, all OK until the end. ‘End’ came up in the display briefly then fault code re-appeared. It was only on 800 spin so clothes not completely dry. Looked on Hotpoint website and they don’t list an F 08 code. Rang Hotpoint this morning, no use at all after ages on hold. All they wanted was to get an engineer out! Machine is 5 1/2 years old so just out of warranty! Checked pump filter and removed 20 p piece. Thought that may be it. No fault still occurs. Looked on web for F 08 and get different replies, from heater & pressure switch. Had a look in machine, checked all wires, did notice a lot of carbon depo…

Hi everyone, i'm having a strange problem with my Ariston avl 145 and i couldn't find my specific problem on the forum or the general advice section. Here's hoping one of the experts can point me in the right direction. When i turn my machine on and start any of the programs, i hear the door lock and (and it locks as normal) the the program wont start. I've tried will all types of programmes, even just pump out programmes or spin. I feel the problem is that even though the door locks the machine doesn't realise this and wont start the cycle. The reason i think this is the fault is because the door lock light doesn't come on even though the door is locked. I've taken…
