Miele washing machines
- This forum is for anything to do with Miele washing machines - BUT NOT repairs
- All repair questions need to be in the following forum - UK Washing Machine Repair Questions
This is because most faults are not specific to a brand. Most faults and fixes are the same for all washing machines. Splitting faults up into different brans causes much duplication and fragmentation of answers

I've had my W3240 for a few weeks now and thought I'd post back some thoughts. I had a 15 year old AEG with a 900 spin speed, still working but often erratic. I had particularly wanted a faster spin to save on drying costs and because we're trying to cut energy usage wherever we can. I can't honestly say I've noticed the clothes spun at top speed being any drier than they were at 900. So I wouldn't pay a premium to get a faster spin speed (say 1400 over 1200) again - I think this agrees with Andy's advice in general. I like having a bigger drum, and the machine feels really well built and is very quiet. It is however as lots of people have said HEAVY. I'm finding t…

Hi, I've read a lot of useful information on this forum so firstly thanks! However I'm still having trouble deciding between buying a Miele washer/dryer over and a Bosch. Here's my reservation: 1. According to this new report from Which? Bosch are only 1% different from Miele in terms of reliability (92% versus 93% respectively): 2. Engineer call-out fees are more or less the same for the two brands: 3. Parts for the Miele are likely to be more expensive: 4. I'm not going to buy an extended warranty because I don't believe they are cheaper in the end: 5. Therefore I'm going to be paying repair bills myself after 1 year because Miele are not offering a 5 year warrant…

have taken delivery of a miele prestige plus washer from john lewis .it is fantastic so far,the display panel is great as it tells me how long each programme takes also you can alter programmes once started and skip stages in the programme sequence.just one question there is approx 3 tablespoons of water left inside the rubber drum seal when the washer has finished is this ok?

Hi I own a Miele W916 washing machine and am sick of paying out for a service engineer to unblock the INTERNAL filter. Sometimes I am charged 100 GBP for 10 mins work to simply remove a button or a 2p coin from the INTERNAL FILTER!!! There is an external access filter AND AN INTERNAL ONE. I have an electrician friend who said he would take a look. Does anyone know how to access the internal filter ? Cheers Dirool

Wouldn't it be useful for a high end machine to have a built in scale that can measure the weight of the laundry e.g. 3kg for Express Wash. So you would know the weight limitations for each program and load optimally as you view the weight on an LCD as you are loading the drum.

Thinking of a Miele W1512 as a replacement but very irritatingly the door is hinged on the wrong side restricting access in our utlity room. Also the drum is small compared to most machines and it doesn't appear to have a delay start. The AEG L64810 which was tested by Which? to have the same clean/rinse/dry/noise/ performance and running costs as the W1512, has a bigger 6KG drum, door opens on the correct side and has a delay start. Bad point is it looks plain ugly compared to the Miele and is not that much cheaper (Miele is about £430 for me and the AEG is about £380) Which one?

Mr. Washerhelp! So we dont spoil our dtergent drawer and avoid the chore of cleaning it regularly we have been adding powder to the drum directly. I have been told this is less effective than putting it in the drawer. We use the drawer only for Fabric Softner. What is your opionion on this? Thanks Ricky

I have just had delivered a Miele WT2670 Washer Dryer. I need to report that I am totally amazed by it. The build and design of this machine oozes quality. From the whisper quiet operation, wide range of programmes, high spin speed and other finishing touches such as the backlit dial and interior drum lighting. I had a Hoover Performa washer dryer and was pretty unipressed by the drying results. The washing was always still damp even after a drying time of about 2 hours!. I was going to go ahead and just get another Hoover but not a washer dryer as I have always had that brand. My neighbour showed me their new Miele W520 machine and I was very impressed with that. Th…

Thanks to this forum I just bought a new W1512 washer. What a fantastic machine!! Even the transit bars were a work of art! SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO quiet too... Anyway I thought I read somewhere that there may be a free 3yr guarantee out theer somewhere to download? I have the 2 yr one, but a free extra year would be nice, just in case...

I am considering buying Miele W 3922 WPS over the other models below it primarily because it says it has a more silent mortor. We have a openplan large kitchen and sitting area so silence is paramount. I would appreciate if anyone has this machine or has experience of a similar speced machine. Currently I own an AEG Lavamat 72630 that has served very well but would like to replace. Thanks and kind regards, John. PS I found that some local shops that link via Miele website are cheaper (I live in Bromley) than any internet search engines as Kelkoo and they do free delivery at your convenience.

At the moment I am using Bold Lavendar and Chamomile together with Lenor Sleep Sensations fabric conditioner. I knwo Bold has in built softner but I feel the clothes are nicer with added conditioner. Is there a better detergent or one preferred by Miele?

we are moving house next Friday - we were going to get my best friends old spare indesit washer to help us out of a hole for the first few months, however after a few tests hte old thing isnt very relieable its keeps stopping mid program and refuses to drain therefore to save a few quid we have thought about getting a 2nd user miele of about 2-3 years old for about the same if not less than a new bosch/aeg/similar. After all, like my old vw, a good well built machine doesnt become a badly built machine over such a short period of time. the only downside i can think of is a lack of warranty but a £500+plus machine for £150 seems like a good idea. does this sound lik…

I have recently aquired a s/h Miele W360 washer. It runs perfectly except when I open the door the back-light to the program knob goes out and comes back on after a couple of seconds. This doesn't bother me but I am concerned that the door release solenoid actuating is pulling the electronics supply rail voltage down. I am concerned that it could stress the EXPENSIVE electronics! Miele tell me that the light should not extinguish.

A quick question.....In addition to the handbook literature and spanner that came with my new 1714, there was a metallic adaptor. I think it's a non return valve which threads on to my stopcock cold tap and the water inlet pipe threads onto the other end. Does this item need to be fitted? My old washer just had the water inlet pipes (hot + cold) attached directly to the taps. I have fitted this item but I did not put PTFE tape round the stopcock thread. In other words I have threaded metal to metal. The inlet pipe has a plastic thread. Should PTFE tape be used in this situation? Apologies in advance if this sounds stupid.........but I don't want to wreck a 700 quid m…

I am about to buy a washing machine for my new flat. I have been advised to buy a Miele - and after doing some research I have come across your site and other reviews all recommending Miele. Does the Miele Premiere 520 or W1512 have Aquastop? To prevent flooding should it leak? I intend to do the majority of my washing when I am not at home. I also notice that John Lewis don't stock any of these models but has other models with different names? Thanks.

I just had a new Miele washer/dryer combo machine delivered to me today. In the first cycle that runs to get the machine started with no clothes in it, the washer is giving off a "hot" smell. It's not really a "burning" smell but it smells very hot. And in the first load I washed, it gave off this same smell. What is this and does it go away? Thanks!

Are all miele machines right-hand opening only? Having read the reviews and advice on your site I had persuaded myself to invest in one however since the machine goes in a cupboard under the stairs (hinged on the right) I need my machine to be hinged on the left.

My new miele W3985 it's absolutely fantastic! Lights on in the honeycombe drum! It's replacing an old hotpoint which was so noisy during spin take off that we thought the house is collapsing. New baby just purrs and purrs and the spin cycle is unbelievable quiet. It looks great so glad miele finally produce white machines and I love the anti crease system which gently rocks your clothes from side to side until you take them out. 10 out of 10.

Hello My washing machine has given up the ghost after 4 and a half years, and has now been written off by the insurance company (after a lot of trouble). The machine is a Candy and first went wrong about 2 years ago (luckily I had taken out an extended warranty). Over the past 4 months I have been without a washing machine for about 12 weeks in all (2 breakdowns) - waiting for the service engineer to visit, decide what was wrong, order parts, wait for parts and then organising someone to be in the house all day to wait for the part to be fitted. Finally, the engineer and insurers have decided to write it off and I am trying to decide which machine to buy. I am extr…

Just took delivery of a Miele washing machine today, and the instructions say that if you have a flloor made of floorboards (which we have), the machine should be mounted on a plywood plinth with stops fitted to prevented the machine vibrating off it (I really can't see that happening!). Question is, how necessary is it really to have the plinth and if it is, how available are the stops (these are Miele spares apparently)? Thanks.

Where on earth can one buy spare parts for both a W863 washing machine and a T495C tumble dryer? I need a new soap dispensing drawer for the washing machine and a condenser for the tumble dryer. My machines are both 5 years old. Neither requires the need for an engineer.

Can you help? We invested in a Miele washing machine while living in Germany and brought it back to the UK with us four years ago. It is only 6 years old and is broken. A reliable repair man thinks it is either the motor or the board. I have found out from Miele that their service man charges a £90 call out fee, a new motor would cost £295 + call out + VAT and a new board £426 ++. I am so annoyed and frustrated at having spent £1000 on a wahing machine that is no better than a cheap throw-away. Any advice?
