JohnDuncan
I am considering buying Miele W 3922 WPS over the other models below it primarily because it says it has a more silent motor. We have an open plan large kitchen and sitting area, so silence is paramount. I would appreciate it if anyone has this machine or has experience of a similar specced machine. Currently I own an AEG Lavamat 72630 that has served very well but would like to replace. Thanks and kind regards, John.
GOOSE
I have had a 3922 machine for about two months. It seems fairly quiet but the drain pump is noticeably noisy. So noticable that it crops up in the common problem solving guide section of the instruction manual. The instruction manual is on the web site. Apart from that that the machine is fine and has a ten year guarantee. If you get one then read the installation instructions on the web site before it is delivered. Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted December 20, 2006 Root Admin Report Share Posted December 20, 2006 I wouldn't expect a Miele pump to be noisier than other washing machines although when pumping air after all the water has gone pumps do tend to be noisy. As soon as the water has gone there's a noticeable increase in volume and change in noise from the pump in a washing machine. The pump on a normal washing machine is often joined by a noisy motor and these noises blend. A washing machine with a very quiet main motor can ironically accentuate the noise of the pump which is virtually the only noise now. It's just one possible explanation for why it could seem relatively noisy. Need a repair or spare parts? Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted September 21 Root Admin Report Share Posted September 21 Since writing my last reply I would say the pump on a Miele washing machine looks little different to the pump on most washing machines and I expect it makes a similar noise. Gone are the days when all individual Miele parts were far superior to the average washing machine. They are still overall superior, but quite a few parts are no longer so different.
