Hi all, I'm thinking about buying the Miele Prem 520. I like the look of this and my budget can just about stretch to the 499.95 price tag. Miele seem to be a good quality manufacturer - even though I'm getting one at the lower end of the Miele scale, would the forum regard it as a good buy. Thanks in advance for your comments Regards Dave

Does anyone have a rough idea of its weight as I need to arrange delivery of one. I am guessing around 70kg-90kg???? The Miele website doesnt list the weights! Thanks

I am currently the proud owner of a Miele W 3740 washing machine. Look out for a big review of it soon (I'll post a link here when it's ready) In the mean time anyone interested in buying a Miele W 3740 should be aware that many sites say there is a 24 hour delay start function on this washing machine and there definitely isn't. The Miele site now has the corrected version of the specifications but many retailing sites have copied this erroneous fact and still display it. Edit Here is the review - Miele W 3740 review

Just bought the W3740. Premier threw in free delivery, connection and testing and took the old washer away for £789. That was £30 more than the online price I gave them but that didn't include the disposal charge and more importantly, they had the model in stock. Believe it or not, the new washer arrived and was connected and tested within TWO HOURS of the engineer making the call to order it! It's incredibly well built. We've tested it already and it's performed brilliantly so far. I'd just like to say thanks to Andy for providing this resource, which played no small part in helping us make a decision. It's a mine of useful information!

Do you have to exactly level the machine for optimum use? I have just purchased a W3922 and it is level front to back, but slightly out side to side. Will this make a difference. By the way, Excellent machine. The old adage, you only get what you pay for springs to mind with these machines. The build quality is outstanding and performance superb, very quiet.

Can anyone advise how quiet these two machines are, Miele’s website only gives insulation levels not decibels. We are comparing these with Siemens similar priced machines and they give decibel levels on their site. Both manufacturers are offering 10 year guarantees on various models (offer expires end Jan (Siemens) and end Feb (Miele) Have tried Kelko for comparisons on noise but these models didn’t appear to be listed. Any information would be greatly appreciated on the above and comparisons of build quality. Many thanks.

well was thinking of going out next week to buy the w3740 however just read the manual on the miele site and they say that they do not recommend the use of installed water softeners - we have one of these and have always used it with our other washing machines therefore we don't get any lime scale etc - does anyone know why miele don't recommend them ?.. dave

As a new member of Washerhelp my wife and I are looking for some guidance. Having had a variety of washing machines over the years, non of which were particularly reliable except for a very basic Indesit we bought about 40 years back which lasted about 16 years, 6 of which were washing for a new baby. We have finally decided on a Miele but can't decide on which one. The W3922 & W3824 both seem to fit the bill but I am tempted by the Professional motor and the load size/ dispensing on the W3922, however it does seem to have bells and whistles that we don't need. It seems that the W3824 might be a later addition to the range and looks simpler to use. The program that…

Hi Folks My first post - just like to say that I find this website such an excellent resource - reliable trustworthy advice from Mr WasherHelp and real-life experiences from the other forum members. We need a new washing machine that goes under the counter in our new house because the Whirlpool AWT5108 (toploader) has been stuck in the middle of the utility room floor since we moved in 2+ years ago. It really is time I did something about it and what with the cost of modifying the worktops - might as well buy a front loader and stick it under the worktop. It's gotta be a Miele because we love them. It doesn't need to be fancy. Having read the advice on WasherHelp we pl…

Does anyone know if the LEDs remain lit when washing (providing a washing spectacular show, or unspectacular depending what's in the wash )? - or if they only come on when loading and unloading? and if the Silent Professional Motors of these machines are quieter for the £200+ quid step up from the W3240? I'm confused as what to get, I think I've discounted AEG, I thought I was going to get the W1512 for £430, then saw the 10 year guarantees on the above said models. W3240 is £634, so £200 more but with a 10 year warranty, which makes the W1512 seem poor value. The W3922 is about £833 so another £200 more than the W3240, but with LEDs and Silent Pro Motor and the …

Hi Had my new Miele W524 Prestige Plus, (John Lewis exclusive) delivered 4 days ago. So far I can report it's great, have done various loads, and it's quiet, and cleans well. Rock solid during the fastest spin (1300 rpm). It's so nice to have a machine that doesn't stop mid-cycle as my 7 year old Bosch had been doing for 6 months!!

We all know that Miele produce some fantastic washing machines and the after care is like being smothered by a thick feather duvet! Did you know thay also make Dishwashers, Tumble Dryers, Ovens, Hobs and other househld essentials? I know this site is entitled "Washerhelp" but I was wondering if this forum could digress into commenting on Mieles other appliances too?? I have just refitted my kitchen and in addition to my Miele WT2670 washer dryer I now have a Miele H4640 oven, a KM548 hob and a DA446 chimney hood. All look very smart and I am very pleased with them. I knew they wouldnt be a disappointment. Now the motto "anything else is a compromise" sticks…

Miele have two designs of machine. One I call the "New Improved". The second "Original". What design do you prefer? For me I don't think I can never tire of the Original design and this would sway me to a machine in this style over the new lineup. It's the polishable chrome of even shape and classic control fascia with the illuminated "orange eclipse" control knob that melts my heart every time! ;o)

A while ago I posted that I was having problems with my 11 year old MieleW980 washing machine. While waiting for the lovely man from Miele who sorted everything outfor me I decided to re read the instruction manual. I have discovered that pressing several buttons at once I can access programme features additional to the ones shown on the no nonsense dial. I have now programmed the machine to start by flushing both of the draws in the powder tray. This has been very useful as we live in an extremely hard hardwater area. I now put some powder and a small amount of soda in the prewash tray (which flushes first) and thenput the rest of the powder and a limescale prevention ta…

For those who have registered for the FREE Miele 10 year warranty, (currently underwritten by Domestic & General Services Ltd) do you get any confirmation that they have processed it? It would be helpful if you state which approximate year you registered (so I can tell if it was 9 years ago or 1 year ago) I'm about to send it off via a recordable/trackable method, and was wondering if you get some sort of paperwork back, perhaps a simple welcome and policy booklet?

Many thanks for all the useful information posted on this site that helped us to make up our minds in the purchase of a new machine. We decided on the Miele W3240 complete with its 10 year parts and labour guarantee. Having mentioned considering a Siemens WIQ 1435 on viewing we saw that this did not the metal outer drum of the Miele. Comparing prices since before Christmas it was noticed that Currys/Dixons/Comet had reduced their prices to compete with other internet traders. They all did not seem to have any on display locally,( is it morally right to go look at a product in a local store but purchase cheaper on line elsewhere), could open another forum on that. Anywa…

Hi! I want to tell you all about the brilliant aftersales service I recently had on my new Miele Washer Dryer. I have had it about 8 weeks and when it was drying it would make an awful rattling noise generally after some time into the drying cycle and when the machine was particularly hot. The little orange screen also became covered with gibberish and would go out and then if I tapped it would come on. I spoke to Andy (Washerhelp's Sensei) and he advised me to contact Miele right away. When I did I was threatened with the fact that if no fault is found then I would be charged upwards of £90. This really put me off as the fault was intermittent and I felt it would be my…

Miele Appliances are the best I’ve ever used, im only 22yrs old and already own 5 Miele appliances (Washing Machine, Condenser Dryer, Dishwasher, Fridge, Vacuum cleaner) they all fantastic and when it comes to the time of replacing them I will once again go for Miele (once you do Miele there is no going back). Me and my partner once we moved out in to our apartment we bought a top end Hotpoint (baring in mind my mother had her Hotpoint ultima 9 years and ever had a spanner on it) thought it was a solid brand. How far wrong could I be had the machine 6 months and I had the following replacement parts fitted · 2 door seals · 1 motor · 1 pump · 2 bearings · Suspens…

I've had my W3240 for a few weeks now and thought I'd post back some thoughts. I had a 15 year old AEG with a 900 spin speed, still working but often erratic. I had particularly wanted a faster spin to save on drying costs and because we're trying to cut energy usage wherever we can. I can't honestly say I've noticed the clothes spun at top speed being any drier than they were at 900. So I wouldn't pay a premium to get a faster spin speed (say 1400 over 1200) again - I think this agrees with Andy's advice in general. I like having a bigger drum, and the machine feels really well built and is very quiet. It is however as lots of people have sa…

Hi, I've read a lot of useful information on this forum so firstly thanks! However I'm still having trouble deciding between buying a Miele washer/dryer over and a Bosch. Here's my reservation: 1. According to this new report from Which? Bosch are only 1% different from Miele in terms of reliability (92% versus 93% respectively): 2. Engineer call-out fees are more or less the same for the two brands: 3. Parts for the Miele are likely to be more expensive: 4. I'm not going to buy an extended warranty because I don't believe they are cheaper in the end: 5. Therefore I'm going to be paying repair bills myself after 1 year because Miele are not offering a 5 year warrant…

have taken delivery of a miele prestige plus washer from john lewis .it is fantastic so far,the display panel is great as it tells me how long each programme takes also you can alter programmes once started and skip stages in the programme sequence.just one question there is approx 3 tablespoons of water left inside the rubber drum seal when the washer has finished is this ok?

Hi I own a Miele W916 washing machine and am sick of paying out for a service engineer to unblock the INTERNAL filter. Sometimes I am charged 100 GBP for 10 mins work to simply remove a button or a 2p coin from the INTERNAL FILTER!!! There is an external access filter AND AN INTERNAL ONE. I have an electrician friend who said he would take a look. Does anyone know how to access the internal filter ? Cheers Dirool

Wouldn't it be useful for a high end machine to have a built in scale that can measure the weight of the laundry e.g. 3kg for Express Wash. So you would know the weight limitations for each program and load optimally as you view the weight on an LCD as you are loading the drum.
