Thinking of a Miele W1512 as a replacement but very irritatingly the door is hinged on the wrong side restricting access in our utlity room. Also the drum is small compared to most machines and it doesn't appear to have a delay start. The AEG L64810 which was tested by Which? to have the same clean/rinse/dry/noise/ performance and running costs as the W1512, has a bigger 6KG drum, door opens on the correct side and has a delay start. Bad point is it looks plain ugly compared to the Miele and is not that much cheaper (Miele is about £430 for me and the AEG is about £380) Which one?

Mr. Washerhelp! So we don't spoil our detergent drawer and avoid the chore of cleaning it regularly, we have been adding powder to the drum directly. I have been told this is less effective than putting it in the drawer. We use the drawer only for Fabric Softener. What is your opinion on this? Thanks Ricky

I have just had delivered a Miele WT2670 Washer Dryer. I need to report that I am totally amazed by it. The build and design of this machine oozes quality. From the whisper quiet operation, wide range of programmes, high spin speed and other finishing touches such as the backlit dial and interior drum lighting. I had a Hoover Performa washer dryer and was pretty unipressed by the drying results. The washing was always still damp even after a drying time of about 2 hours!. I was going to go ahead and just get another Hoover but not a washer dryer as I have always had that brand. My neighbour showed me their new Miele W520 machine and I was very impressed wit…

Thanks to this forum I just bought a new W1512 washer. What a fantastic machine!! Even the transit bars were a work of art! SO quiet too... Anyway I thought I read somewhere that there may be a free 3yr guarantee out there somewhere to download? I have the 2 yr one, but a free extra year would be nice, just in case...

At the moment I am using Bold Lavendar and Chamomile together with Lenor Sleep Sensations fabric conditioner. I knwo Bold has in built softner but I feel the clothes are nicer with added conditioner. Is there a better detergent or one preferred by Miele?

I have recently aquired a s/h Miele W360 washer. It runs perfectly except when I open the door the back-light to the program knob goes out and comes back on after a couple of seconds. This doesn't bother me but I am concerned that the door release solenoid actuating is pulling the electronics supply rail voltage down. I am concerned that it could stress the EXPENSIVE electronics! Miele tell me that the light should not extinguish.

I am about to buy a washing machine for my new flat. I have been advised to buy a Miele - and after doing some research I have come across your site and other reviews all recommending Miele. Does the Miele Premiere 520 or W1512 have Aquastop? To prevent flooding should it leak? I intend to do the majority of my washing when I am not at home. I also notice that John Lewis don't stock any of these models but has other models with different names? Thanks.

I just had a new Miele washer/dryer combo machine delivered to me today. In the first cycle that runs to get the machine started with no clothes in it, the washer is giving off a "hot" smell. It's not really a "burning" smell but it smells very hot. And in the first load I washed, it gave off this same smell. What is this and does it go away? Thanks!

Are all miele machines right-hand opening only? Having read the reviews and advice on your site I had persuaded myself to invest in one however since the machine goes in a cupboard under the stairs (hinged on the right) I need my machine to be hinged on the left.

My new miele W3985 it's absolutely fantastic! Lights on in the honeycombe drum! It's replacing an old hotpoint which was so noisy during spin take off that we thought the house is collapsing. New baby just purrs and purrs and the spin cycle is unbelievable quiet. It looks great so glad miele finally produce white machines and I love the anti crease system which gently rocks your clothes from side to side until you take them out. 10 out of 10.

Hello My washing machine has given up the ghost after 4 and a half years, and has now been written off by the insurance company (after a lot of trouble). Various people have recommended Miele washing machines and a couple have also mentioned Bosch. I was initially put off by the prices of Miele, as they are expensive, but decided to look at reviews on the Internet. I found your site which has given me a wealth of information - thank you - and I also took up to 30 day option for Which?. I am now torn between Miele (reviews from both your site and Which? are fantastic) and Bosch (which also have good reviews and are more within my price range). I am prepared to pa…

Just took delivery of a Miele washing machine today, and the instructions say that if you have a flloor made of floorboards (which we have), the machine should be mounted on a plywood plinth with stops fitted to prevented the machine vibrating off it (I really can't see that happening!). Question is, how necessary is it really to have the plinth and if it is, how available are the stops (these are Miele spares apparently)? Thanks.

Where on earth can one buy spare parts for both a W863 washing machine and a T495C tumble dryer? I need a new soap dispensing drawer for the washing machine and a condenser for the tumble dryer. My machines are both 5 years old. Neither requires the need for an engineer.

Can you help? We invested in a Miele washing machine while living in Germany and brought it back to the UK with us four years ago. It is only 6 years old and is broken. A reliable repair man thinks it is either the motor or the board. I have found out from Miele that their service man charges a £90 call out fee, a new motor would cost £295 + call out + VAT and a new board £426 ++. I am so annoyed and frustrated at having spent £1000 on a washing machine that is no better than a cheap throw-away. Any advice?

I am a habitual buyer of cheap washing machines and to my cost I have had 6 machines in the last 11 years and consider myself fortunate if they last 2 years, I think I was fooled into this by the first cheap machine I ever brought which was a Dixons own brand which lasted 3 years, the worst I ever had was a indesit and it lasted 12 months having been repaired under guarentee twice. I considered a Miele the last time I brought a machine but with my past experinece I struggle to believe a washing machine really can last 10 years. Would I have to have the machine serviced annually by a miele engineer for the guarentee to remain valid ? Also a big thank you I have f…

Hi I have just taken delivery of a miele washer/dryer but the fellow who installed it didn't take the plastic cover on the front of the glass door. i rang Miele and they said it should come off with a screwdriver. I tried very gently but the plastic sheet cracked and I am having trouble getting it off the door. Do you have any suggestions? it is not mentioned in the manual thanks Sweal

Hi there, My AEG washing machine has just finally given up on me – we are ready to say goodbye to it as it also sounds like Concorde as the bearings are starting to go. We have been told that AEG are not what they used to be and so after listening to a friend's Miele (or rather struggling to - as it was so quiet) we decided to opt for one. We don't mind spending a bit as we have seen over the last 13 years the benefits of buying the best (at the time according to Which our AEG was!). My mother-in-law buys cheap and has been thru 4 in the time that we have had the AEG - that speaks volumes. My question is – are all Miele quiet or is there one particular model tha…

Due to a lack of spin from our old (6yrs) Zanusi we were eventually driven to consider a new washing machine. We had only recently comletely redone our kitchen with a white theme and at that time the existing Miele range was that yuck creme colour and so was not considered and we stuck with our existing machine. I was therefore happy to see that Miele have now changed to awhite for their appliances. Following further investigation of speification and cost we opted for the W1514. Duly ordered on a friday morning it was delivered that afternoon. We carefully read the instructions and connected up. One thing I wouls say is that it is heavy at 99kg which is a good thing as…

Thanks to your very helpful advice I an antisipating the arrival of my Miele Paramount ( from John Lewis ) this Friday and I'm quite excited ( a bit sad really ). So once I have had it for a few weeks I will let you know how I get on with it. Mostly my washing machines last 6-7 years and although my Hotpoint Aquarius is still working it's so noisy!!! I've had the engineer out and he says its fine, but I can't stand the row any longer. At the moment Miele machines with the "honeycomb " drum come with 10 year free parts and labour warranty ...we'll have some of that said my other half. I have aquired truck loads of helpful advice to look after my new machine as I must admit…

Many thanks to you for your website’s information. It helped my fiancé (now wife) and I decide on what washer to buy since our Hotpoint broke down again. I suppose it’s wasn't bad after 7 years but it has been repaired four times. It had been vibrating very badly during the spin cycle and there was a lot of dark grey grease and powder under the machine but it’s finally decided to no longer sense that the waster has emptied out before spinning. I cleared the sump filter as you mentioned on the website (found half a bra, 72p in change, some chain and a small mosaic stone). Anyway, we decided on a Miele 526 and got it at a great price from our local Comet in Leicester’s Fos…
