Which Miele Washing Machine?

Recommended Posts

I've just bought my first house and am looking at buying a miele washing machine.

I'm after one with a 1600 spin but don't know which one of the current range to get (I'd prefer one of the 10 year guarantee ones).

can anyone explain the maindifference in features, I'm not fussed on looks more in ease of use and efficiency-

I'm looking at spending around £850 - £1000

Have you any specific features you want to ask about? The main features with Miele washing machines apart from the normal drum size and spin speeds etc. are the professional motor and the honeycomb drum.

The professional motor is reckoned to be ultra quiet although I can vouch for their standard motor being extremely quiet already and the honeycomb drum is unique to Miele and is much gentler on laundry as it allows a thin film of water to form between the drum and laundry. Thus reducing wear and tear through washing.

I would say neither of these features are essential, but if you have the money they are very nice. Otherwise choose a cheaper Miele washing machine without them, and still have the best made washing machine about.

I wasn't aware the Honeycomb drum had a purpose! I just thought it was made like that to look nice. To be honest that is why I liked a Honeycomb drum models. Because it looked nice. I remember going to look at some Mieles before Christmas when I was getting mine. I was in John Lewis with my neighbour and we both said "ooh look at the drum.... it's all like.... hexagons!... Coool!"

My dear old Zanussi FL1012 gave up the ghost after 21 years and no call outs. I now have a Miele W3922WPS, mainly because I already have a Miele Tumble Dryer and was so impressed with it. I wanted a 1600 spin speed and I got it and it's absolutely brilliant. I just LOVE my new machine.

I can't say that I use all the functions on it but I do like being able to choose a cotton wash at 30 degrees and a short wash and it also tells me how much the load weighs (percentage) and how much detergent to put in. I also like that it tells me how much longer it has to run. All in all I would recommend it even though it is expensive but I got a 10 year guarantee. :D
