This forum is to give feedback on, and ask questions about anything related to buying and running a Miele washing machine - just not repairs This is because most washing machines, regardless of the brand, suffer the same faults. So instead of having 20 different forums all asking the same questions, eg. my (Miele/Hoover/Hotpoint/Samsung washing machine won't fill with water, or won't pump out etc. they are all in one big washing machine repair forum RELATED BUYING WASHING MACHINE ADVICE - Washing machine reviews Advice and help to buy a washing machine (Opinions are based on my personal experience of repairing and selling washing machines, which…

Just discovered this forum (looks good) and am passing on some 'advice' from a Miele engineer He was here to fix (actually, condemn...) a 2.5 yr old Miele fridge/freezer. Not a very helpful or knowledgeable guy IMHO, but whilst on the phone to his boss (to get a diagnosis on the FF) he pointed to our shiny new WT2780, saying "you know that if you don't use the Rinse Out Fluff feature, these break down?" (accompanied by a smirk - the inference being that I was a berk for paying over the odds for an unreliable machine). He seemed to be saying that the fluff blocks some inside gubbins or something, but as I was keen to get him out of the house as soon as possible, I did no…

I am considering buying Miele W 3922 WPS over the other models below it primarily because it says it has a more silent motor. We have an open plan large kitchen and sitting area, so silence is paramount. I would appreciate it if anyone has this machine or has experience of a similar specced machine. Currently I own an AEG Lavamat 72630 that has served very well but would like to replace. Thanks and kind regards, John.

I have taken delivery of a Miele W2209i washing machine which I am thrilled with. The wash quality is excellent and it is so quiet. BUT I am not sure about the pump filter. Today I opened it for the first time and it poured water all over the floor. It does not look like any pump filter that I have seen before, cannot see any mesh or anything to clean. Can anyone help me please?

I have a Miele Polaris W1515, sometimes it does not fully rinse so I run and 'Express wash', with the temperature set to cold. But, after the first fill it starts to heat the water, I can see this on my electricity monitor, which jumps to about 1.2 Kwh. It is definitely the washing machine doing this. So any ideas why it is heating water when 'Cold' is selected as the wash temperature? Thanks in advance

Few days ago I got well preserved, second hand ``Miele Novotronic W 913 Allwater``. This is my first experience with Miele product, so I would like to read the instructions for proper use. Unfortunately i didn't get the instruction manual. As I can't find instructions for this model online, I wonder if someone could recommend me to look for the instructions of another model, whose working principle is similar to this one? Thank you in advance!

I'd like to buy Miele washing machine, but all Miele products have hinge on the right side (while others manufactures on left) I have really small laundry room and for me this is a deal breaker if it is not possible to switch the hinge. I have contacted several places but I got conflicting information. Maybe someone on this forum already have some experience in that matter.

Hello I've just taken delivery of a new Miele WDA100, and I was surprised to notice as soon as the drum started to rotate that it's not perfectly circular - the lip of the drum (at the front, nearest to the rubber seal) seems to be "out of true" by about 1mm (possibly less) at three separate points. The angle of the lip varies as well as the radius. 1mm doesn't seem like much, but it's more than I'd have expected for a fast-spinning machine. Has anyone else noticed this? Is it considered to be within normal tolerances, or should I be rejecting this machine (delivered only 2 hrs ago)? Thanks

I have to say I am losing faith in Miele's guarantee that they will be able to keep machines going for 20 years. Here's my story. In 1994 I bought a Miele washer dryer for £1100, which was used fairly lightly. In 1998 there was a drum problem, so I paid £300 for it to be repaired. This meant a month waiting for an appointment before an engineer could come. When he did arrive he installed the part, but failed to screw it in properly, and the machine nearly exploded when I tried to use it again. I called them again, they came after a few weeks and promised me a new machine if I paid them another £800. I said they must be joking, and refused. Eventually they gave i…

I've recently bought a TwinDos washer and don't expect to continue using the genuine Miele Phase 1 & 2 detergents due to cost, so was thinking about filling them with my own. I've read it's possible, but wondered what people's experiences were like? Does the system behave well using non-Miele detergents? One of my concerns is the system will clog up and not perform well and any issues in the future will be greeted by Miele with 'not covered under warranty as you haven't been using our detergents'.

Hello, I’ve recently seen for sale on eBay a secondhand Miele washing machine. Its going for £59 however it says that it has a plastic tub. Can you shed any light on which Miele models had plastic tubs as it’s my understanding they all now have metal ones? many thanks.

I have a Miele W3985 and I'm puzzled by the spin settings. On the "separate rinse" programme, the spin is limited to 1200, although on a regular wash it can be put up to 1800. If i run this I usually then have to run a separate "drain+spin" programme manually to get the faster spin. Why this restriction? Is there any way to change the config to remove the restriction? Many thanks.

As the Miele are about 93Kg, can one be slid under a worksurface or put on chipboard and then slid under? Are there any decent wheels or rollers to use? It is a tiled floor as well, so I wonder wherther the tiles would crack under the load, probably not on chipboard? I just wonder how realistic it is to buy S/H and to be able to move it in an estate car, probably not easy?

We have had this model for just under 2 months. All washes have been carried out using the Miele TDos detergent system at 40C. A couple of weeks ago, the Hygiene Info banner came on. We then carried out a Maintenance Wash but the banner did not go away even though the machine had probably accumulated less than 20 washes in total since new. We tried to get help/advice from MieleCare. This ranged from 'I am not familiar with this model', to 'we do not have access to technical support,' to 'run it empty on the cottons programme at 90C'. The banner has now disappeared after I disconnected the machine from the mains for 30 minutes. I have posed a few questions t…

I'm hoping to buy my first ever washing machine!! how exciting! After reading about lots of different things i think i'm going to splash out and buy the Miele W1714. My only quesiton is about the warranty. I've seen a lot of talk about 10 year and 5 year warranties, but when I look at buying the machine no site mentions it. What's the crack? Is it a limited period offer? If so, does anyone have any inside info as to when Miele may offer this again?

So, I have finally got the money together (£800 to £1100) and think it is the right time to ask the more important question as I have got the message that it should be Miele. Which one should it be? I have been looking at the new style W4449 as I like all new technology - I get attracted to LEDs and it has a big door. The W3844 WPS seems a more traditional option with possibly more of a robust constitution - in my experience traditional/older styles are better made than anything that is modern/wizzy, not that this knowledge makes me shy away from new technology but just accepting of shorter lives and disposability. Then the question became, as I use the eco friendly g…

I urgently need a new washing machine. In the past I have only spent about £350 on one so spending £700-£800 I really dont want to make a mistake, especially as its going to last me 20 yrs (hopefully). These two models seem to have very similar features the only difference being the brushless silent professional motor on the W4144 and the waterproof system (which you explained about on a previous post). The noise of the machine isn't an issue to me as it will be located away from the main living area of the house. My question really is about the motor being brushless. Is this much better? In the past had a costly experience with a hoover washing machine (only lasted…

Well after trawling many websites and reading what seemed like hundreds of reviews, and a lot of reviews from these forums and website, we decided on a Miele. We were going to get the W3740 but nowhere seemed to have one in stock. We needed to ditch our old Indesit quickly due to constant break downs and with having a baby in tow, living without a washing machine was a no brainer. We saw the W1714 for £589.00 and at that price who were we to argue. As you can see it has very clean lines and we were very impressed when it arrived. The chaps disconnected and took away our old one and installed the new one for us. After running the machine on empty for a cycle…

It's been suggested to me that as a guarantee may not include limescale damage, then unless I'm in a softwater area I'll probably still need to replace the washing machine before the 10 years is up? Just when I thought I'd made up my mind to pay the extra and go ahead! Can you give me any advice on this?

Does anybody know why this is so, as the W 4144 seems to be quieter, as well as having superior features. The only thing that makes me hesitate to buy it is that it is cheaper than the W 3740, suggesting that there are some drawbacks. Be grateful for any advice on this. Plenty of people seem to rate the W 3740 highly.

Hi Washerhelp - I'm a returning member, but, as ever, a great site. Looking to get a new washer. Probably a Miele, based on what I've read at Washerhelp. Was interested in the LG direct drive system, but sort of gone cool on it after reading your review. (Not to say that it is a bad product, of course...) Just wondering if Miele has an out of balance spin function? When I went into my local supplier to talk about getting a new washer, this out of balance issue came up. He said he has a Miele but there are still times when it gets out of balance. Seems like there is no getting away from it. Anyway any advice (or thread you could point me to) would be appreciated. …
