I recently bought a new Meile washing machine (W2859IWPMRS S). It is a great machine, however I have to slam the door quite hard to close this. My last Meile machine did not require this, is this typical, or would you think I have a problem with the door catch/lock? Thanks

Hello The soap dispenser has a blue plastic insert that fits into the main compartment in the drawer. It appears to act as a gate where the water flows down. Does anyone know what is this part used for?

I have been remodelling my kitchen and have just had my old washing machine reconnected in it's new position by a plumber. I decided to try using the dryer for the first time in years and found it wasn't heating so thought I'd pull the machine out to see if there was a thermal cut out switch which could be reset. I didn't get very far because the machine hoses were only long enough to move the machine halfway out. I had told the plumber it would need longer hoses and it looks like he has extended the drainage hose slightly, but not the inlet - neither would allow the machine to come right out without disconnecting them. I have never had this situation with a washing machi…

Hi After recently noticing extra suds in my wash, I'm wondering if I'm dosing my detergent correctly. My detergent's dosage instructions give two measurements, based on soiling, load weight and water hardness. My water supplier states that my water is "moderately hard" and I tend to do loads of 4kg or under (particularly if a specific wash) that are not heavy soiled. The detergent has one measurement for light soiling, in soft/medium water, for 4-5kg of clothes and another measure for heavy soiling, hard water, up to 8kg. I've always though of my water being hard (but now not sure) and I regularly do under 4kg, not heavy soiled loads. I appreciate this may not be…

Hello everyone, I am looking to replace the feet of my washing machine as they seem to have worn down over the years. This has caused excessive vibrations when the machine is in full spin. Has anyone had experience with doing this? What kind of ones should I be looking for? The ones that are currently inside the machine look fairly basic and have a hard base. Thanks in advance for the help!

We recently bought this machine, very happy with it. But the estimated wash time differs greatly from the actual. For instance, using the cottons programme, 40 degrees, normal soil, the display says 2:32hrs. It's then done in an hour and a half. Is this normal? My memory is that the first wash we did (only a fortnight ago) took the full two and a half hours, which seemed long. Any advice gratefully received, cheers joe

Hi we have recently purchased a Hotpoint Ultima S-line washing machine - although generally pleased water seems to be drains back into the drum after the wash cycle has been completed and the assiocated clothes removed. The water is a brownie colour ... any thoughts anyone?

How can I find out which washer on the market can be fitted with a height reduction kit? They all seem to have a height of 85cm, and I need to reduce it to a maximum of 83cm. Would it be safe to remove the lid on a washer whose control panel doesn't extend to the top of the machine, and have a custom-made metal plate fitted to the top. There is an LG washer I like and the lid is 3cm high and sits above the control panel so it looks as though it could be done, but when I contacted LG they said they cannot supply a height reduction kit for any of their washing machines.

Hello, I am new to the world of washing machines and have recently read a great deal in a short time. I am buying a machine for a housing association. I read around and it seems that the consensus is that boiler fed machines are inefficient because most of the water is cold as it has been sitting in the pipes. I eventually settled on a Miele pw6065. It has a hot inlet and a cold inlet so this confused me; because with my limited knowledge the hot fill made me think it was boiler fed, or partly at least. I contacted the merchant and they said that it cannot be compared to the old, inefficient boiler fed machines and this can run off cold only or hot feed only or …

Hi all We recently decided it would be a nice idea to put our washing machine upstairs (2nd floor) so had some plumbing done, redecorated and purchased a shiny new (and very expensive) Miele machine. Unfortunately when we tried to use it the house shook and we could feel the vibrations on the ground floor. FYI we live in a 10 year town house with neighbours on both sides. I have tried a vibration mat, silent feet (from Amazon) and also removing the laminate floor I fitted. These helped but no where near enough to make the machine usable. The Miele weighs 100kg so I was concerned that it was the weight causing the issues, so this weekend I purchased an old B…

Hello, I wondered if you could help me. I have just purchased the Hotpoint WMAQF621 washing machine and I am having trouble finding a suitable cycle. All of the cycles seem to be really long and I would like a fast wash option that is under 1 hour. Does anyone know if there is a quicker option on this washing machine? Thanks

I have a Bosch WFB2004 washing machine and want to run a "cleaning" programme on it. The limescale-removing product I have bought should be put in the machine and run on a "hot" programme which does not include a pre-wash rinse. Unfortunately, as the machine is quite old, Bosch no longer offer a copy of the User Manual online. Can anyone tell me which wash cycle I should run it on please? Thank you!

Hi, I am just wondering how an end user gets to find out if there is any new firmware updates from the manufacturer to improve the operation of the Washing Machine or add new features or iron out bugs or new wash programmes or modify the already ones stored on the flash memory on the circuit control board. Say in my case I bought a Hotpoint WMUD843P washing Machine back in 2012 and it has the slot on the back where the smartcard would go in- how would I know what firmware my washing machine has and wether the manufacturer (Indesit) has bought out any firmware (if any) since I have bought my washing machine. I think when I first bought the washing machine this particu…

Hello to you all, new to the forum! Working on layout of my new kitchen and as in many kitchens the washing machine is one of the tricky bits. Not many places it can go and the slot in question happens to have a section of wall that protrudes, further restricting the depth available. My installer and I have worked out we can just about wing it but might have to shave a tad into the doorframe to allow for the worktop overhang and for it all to work - not ideal but it is a small galley shaped 2bed flat kitchen and some compromises have to be made. So, long and short is when it comes to the appliance, any millimeter I can save will make a difference i.e. possibly g…

After 9 years my Indesit washing machine is close to death (though the dryer bit died about 6 years ago) and I need to replace it. This had a 5kg drum which I found a bit small. I have decided to go with a freestanding model as the integrated ones are so expensive and to just get a washing machine as I haven't missed the dryer (nor the excessive electric bills) at all. I've read so many reviews my head is spinning at 1600rpm! I think I've got it down to a few models now, but am unsure which to go for. Miele WDA101 7kg drum - cheapest price I can find is £539, is it worth this type of money for their entry level model? Is there a Bosch model that's the equivalent stan…

Hello, I've got a Hotpoint WMBF742G Aquarius washing machine which I'm very happy with. My only problem at the moment is that my back has been getting worse over the last few months and carrying out the washing chores is becoming quite the ordeal. I've heard that you can get washing machine stands that raise up the hight of the washer allowing you to lod/unload it without having to bend so far down. This would be perfect for me and my back. I have a separate utility room so its not slotted under cupboards. Raising it would therefore not be a problem. Any suggestions on where I might be able to find one that's suitable for this model? As cheap as possible but sturdy would …

Hello I need to replace my broken Zanussi washer dryer, I was hoping to remain with Zanussi because it has served me well for 10/12 years however the delivery dates quoted are in March and my need is more urgent I have selected Bosch WVG30461GB from Which best buys. I have been warned that after the guarantee expires it could be difficult finding a local independent engineer to help, relying solely on the manufacture service network. Is this the case. During my search I found a supplier, Montpellier, which I had never noticed before and was wondering if anyone has any experience of any of their products / service etc. I am grateful of any help offered to either …

I like meile, but I dont like their new washing machine prices. I get to feel that i could buy 4 cheaper ones in the time it takes for the meile to go wrong, there will have been some advances on the state of the art. maybe. maybe there isnt much more to be added to the state of the art of washing machines. It needs to be quiet and not try and walk its way over the bloody floor like our current one does. i dont care how much water or electricity it uses. an extra £30 a year in juice i dont care about as we have solar and we dont have a water meter. i have the money to buy a new meile, but i am a tight git and would rather not spend it if i dont have to. adv…

My trusty Siemens washing machine has given up the ghost after 9 1/2 years service. I am looking at getting a new machine. I want a long warranty, of at least 5 years but I am 9 years behind the times as far as washing machine technology is concerned so it's all a bit confusing. I have seen Aeg machines that offer a 5 year warranty but my new build house is equipped with Aeg fridge, freezer and dishwasher and to be honest I am no impressed with the quality. All the drawers in the freezer have broken as has the door tray in the fridge and the dishwasher lower basket is for ever coming off its rails and the door seal comes off. I was wondering if anyone knows how well …

New here so please excuse if this should be in the 'repair section'. We have a ZWF 16581 W Jetstream. Yesterday it stopped on the 1 minute after a 'proportional load' run... ie also with no beep... (Twice) the only way to get the door open was to operate a 'drain cycle'. Today we put it on a Cotton Normal and having completed the cycle the door beeped and opened.... My partner said the washing felt cold.... Two questions... 1. what temperature water is used in the rinse cycle? ie is it cold? 2. Is it possible that the heater is at fault which causes the door to not open at the end of the 'proportional load cycle? Anyone experienced eithe…

Hi, First post on what is a great site. Just taken delivery of an AEG machine from John Lewis. Started to unwrap it and found the bottom is exposed so can see all the internals. Had a Hotpoint previously but decided to go with AEG, not a good start so far, Having not had a machine in about 7 years i'm pretty sure this should be covered right? Cheers.

I have just bought a Bosch WAQ28462GB and the 'instruction' leaflet is very vague! I'm not sure if I'm supposed to remove the four bolts at the back of this washing machine machine, before I install it? There are four plastic caplet type things that look like they may fit, if the bolts are removed? I'm pretty confused, and frustrated with the pathetic 'instructions'! If some kind soul, would point me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it. Kind regards, Louis.

HI My washing machine packed in last week, so need to buy a new one, I don't want to spend a ridiculous amount but also don't want a cheap machine either. i was looking around the £500-£600 mark. Family of 4, 2 adults and 2 kids (15 & 3). I have no idea what brand to buy - I can see that everyone seems to rate Miele as by far the best but I saw this at John Lewis - would anyone vouch for it? Does anyone know of any sites that give full details of all wash cycles on washing machines? I have checked quite a few but so far have found none! My washer packed up yesterday and I want to be certain a new one has better wash cycles as I was unhappy with the cycles on this one as there was only one 50c cycle which only had a 800rpm spin speed and also several cycles were over three hours long. This is an Indesit but before that I had a Zanussi and I remember the cycles were not that much better on that one either so I'm determined a new one must have better ones. But I'm not having much luck as nowhere I've looked so far tells you details of all the cycles. Help please…
