Hello, I have a Bosch WFF 1401 machine, must be at least 8 years old but lightly used. It has started to trip the electric when it's going through the wash cycle. However it works fine on the rinse and spin cycles. Any ideas what could be wrong with it? I'm trying to work out whether it's worth getting it fixed or buying a new one. Many thanks in advance. Paul

Hi there, my washing machine is cold fill only, by the looks of it, but it's not filling up with water at all. I've switched on the valves, so I can't figure out why it won't work! Just moved into a new place with the machine installed, and the washing is mounting up!

Washer help Andy, I am back, you helped me in Feb 2012 with a tripping RCB. This time my washing machine (still working like a spring chicken by the way) stunk, so read your washing machine faults FAQ guide last night, bought some distilled malt vinegar today and hey presto, I have a virtually new and fragrant free washing machine. This will now become my monthly routine - hot wash (90 degree) and bung another pint of vinegar in and let it do its magic. Thanks Morris822

Hi there. I am on my 3rd Bosch washing machine in 9 years. I am a part-time massage therapist and wash 1 or 2 loads of oily (massage oil) towels in my Bosch washing machine. I always use big brand detergents by Lever Brothers or Proctor & Gamble. I always wash at at least 60 degrees and a couple of times a year at 90 degrees. Towels are white and still in spectacular condition after 3 years of use. My problem is the washing machine door seal. The massage oil seems to attack the rubber and within 4-6 months the door rubber has softened sufficiently that it droops down and rubs against the rotating inner drum. One of two things happens: either the rubber w…

Hello, my first post and I'm a real layperson when it comes to washing machines so please bare with me. Can someone tell me what the effects of a 'frozen sump' would be please? My landlord is claiming this is why the machine isn't working but I'll be honest and don't trust him a bit. Thanks in advance

CANDY Turbomatic 801. I had a small leak on this machine. After ruling out the obvious: inlet pipes / connection + outlet pipes etc I saw a drip coming from the sump hose, & thought it was split. When I got it off, it seems to be perfect, and the run marks look as if it was leaking around the joint to the drum. I obtained a tube of Appliance Part adhesive & glued it back in place yesterday. I hesitantly started a wash today, but stopped it within a few seconds as the water was gushing out. I haven’t done a full check yet, but the water seemed to be coming from two places – to be confirmed a,s,a,p. In my haste to catch some of the water, my pot touched the …

Loud knocking during both low-speed and high-speed spin. The drum is aligned well and I can't get noise if manually rotating or shaking the drum even violently. Noise is only there at constant spin speed, never when accelerating or deaccelerating. It is not a metallic sound, it is more like it is something knocking on the outer plastic tub. Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have just replaced the brushes in my Beko washing machine. After putting it all back together, the drum span for a second making a whirring sound then stopped. After that it made a sound every 5 seconds like it was trying to start a spin again but failed to move. Also, turning the drum by hand makes an unusual whirring sound. I have had the machine on its side to do the repair. Any ideas what could be causing this? Thanks.

Hello everyone. I really hope I can get some help. I have a Beko WMB71642W Washing machine and up to now it has been fantastic. I run a small laundry business for holiday cottages so when I have a machine down I really struggle to keep up. The warranty on the machine ran out 5 weeks ago and all of a sudden I start getting issues!! For some reason the machine has decided that it doesn't want to drain. There is no obvious blockage in the drain tube and no overflow of water from the pipe. The machine has a separate 'spin + drain' function but this is not working either. Is this a common fault? Has anybody got any tips I could try as I dont have a clue where to start. Ple…

Hi, I hope someone can help. Its a bit of an odd problem, as the washing machine 'does' work! My washing machine has an express cycle (number 9 on the dial) that is supposed to be 15 minutes long. However when I choose that cycle it lasts as long as a long cycle (probably 70 to 90 minutes) Im really not sure why this could be, but its fustrating as I would like to use this cycle fairly regularly, but its not an option. In all other respects the washing machine seems to work ok, although I generally only use one other cycle (number 3 on the dial) so dont really know if any of the other cycles work as they should. Hope you can help!

Hi, have inherited a Bosch Exxcel 1400 Express with the new house. It doesn't look very old and I tried it out when our Hotpoint machine broke down, but when the timer is about to end it always resets to a new time and starts counting down again - average wash takes about 2.5 to 3 hrs! Even then the clothes usually come out wet! Can the machine be easily/ cheap repaired to keep as a spare, or is it scrap metal??? Cheers, Ian

Hi, we've had the machine from new and it's never let us down until recently. It powers up ok but when the door is closed, the main 100mA RCD/ earth leakage circuit breaker at the fuseboard trips out. Could the door lock switch be faulty? Is the machine worth fixing and keeping as a spare or is this one scrap metal too??? Cheers, Ian

Without going in to too much boring detail: I have a hotpoint aquarius washing machine. It doesn't have a filter at the back, just a filter within one of the tubes at the back and the only way to access it is to use pliers to remove the big clip holding it in place (sorry I don't know the technical terms.) A coin made it's way in to my washing machine. I am aware that if the coin is stuck within the inner tank this could cause a lot of damage to the machine BUT if the coin has already made it's way down into the filter (in the tube at the back) is there still a risk of damage? i.e. if I don't remove the coin from the filter, will the machine be okay? Any advice anyone…

Hello My washer dryer stops after ten mins or so into a dying cycle... this happened before under warranty and a helpful chap came and unclogged something inside that was full of fluff, the condenser chamber perhaps? Looks like I need to do this again, can anyone offer advice as to what I'm looking for? I had a look earlier today but couldn't see anything obvious! Thanks in advance, Ant

Hello all, First post, but I've enjoyed reading the forums for some time. As the title suggests, I have an Indesit W113UK which has just recently developed a fault. A loud clattering noise emanated from the machine at the start of the spin cycle which calmed down once up to speed, and then came back with avengence. Checking the inner drum for movement suggested that either the bearings had disintegrated, or that the spider had broken. I stripped the machine down, and sure enough, the spider has two fractured "legs", suspiciously in identical places. The spider on this particular model is riveted directly to the rear face of the inner drum. I have been searching for a r…

I have just spent the last hour stripping down the waste system on my Hoover Nextra HNF 3157 machine machine as it appeared to have ripped a sock to bits a few days ago and was no longer draining. Found many obstructions (including change) at various points in the drainage pipe from the drum which individually would not have caused the blockage but the fibres and tatters of the sock had become entangled so it was quite a messy job. This involved laying the unit down and standing it upright again about 3 times (forgot to wire the waste pump back up). On the last movement upright there was a bit of a crack like noice and I assumed it was something under one of the legs an…

Hi, my indesit WIL 82 has stopped working. Got home yesterday to find it steaming madly. It had heated the water soon much and for so long that the plastic drawer had deformed. How the washer turns on and the power led flashers away no matter which bottoms you press. At this stage the door does not lock or the machine does not start. You need to turn it off at the wall and back on again - then the door locks and the cycle starts without any bottoms being pressed. When its set to a wash cycle its pumps water in and washers, pumps water out and stops after approx 5 mins with power led flashing and that's it. The stage led's (indicate what cycle the machine is in) are no…

Hi , Not posted here for a while Can anyone give me a bit of advice about the Hotpoint WML520 , made in Italy , Please ?? I bought a 2 yr old machine for £20 , the drum bearings were shot ,and I have a drum out of another Hotpoint that I wanted to replace the original with! The original are a sealed unit and cost £140 or so ,I think ,so having scrapped another machine ,a WML 540 , 6 kg , and kept the drum and motor /belt , I was hoping to swap it into the 520??!! I realise there are loads of different models , but in theory ,should this be possible??

Hello this is my first post and I hope you can help. My Siemens washer/dryers only washes cold for every programme. The washer dryer still works correctly. I assume since the dryer works that it means the heating element is still working? Does this washer/dryer display error codes anywhere? Is there anything I can check? 30 May I tried using the machine today and notice that there is a problem with the timer - for example if I open the machine to add more washing and there is 60 minutes left on the clock, when I re-start the machine it seems to add more time to the clock. Not sure if my children have done something by pressing the buttons. First I would like to…
