I have a Hotpoint Aquarius WMA56 which has occasionally caused holes in clothes, mainly t-shirts or other thin clothes. Recently, however, it's appetite has grown and it is eating socks. I couldn't work out how this was happening but now I have just completed a wash and a sock was caught behind the door seal and caught on the outside of the drum. Is this a known fault with this model and is there a cure? The machine is I believe 2-3 years old.

Anyone know of a make and model of an integrated washer dryer that works well with low water pressure? My plumbing system uses a pump and in order for the pump to operate the washing machine needs to allow enough water in and so bring the pump on. Can anyone help?

Has anyone else noticed that Persil and Ariel no longer remove stains the way they used to, even when used at 60 degrees? I have lost count of the number of times I have started to iron something only to find remnants of a stain on the item. I am not talking about notoriously difficult stains i.e. curry etc just everyday ones. There must be something in this otherwise there wouldn't be a market for these in-wash stain removal products we are now invited to buy - as if the detergent isn't expensive enough! I have now switched to Surf powder which so far seems to working perfectly. It's not as though I'm a washing novice, I've been at it for over 30 years! I am beggining…

I read your piece on overloading. I've only had one previous washer dryer (the hoover six express 1300) and I admit I used to wash nearly all my clothes (including woollens) on one setting - 40 degrees for cotton & mixed fabric (because as I understand it's hard for anything to shrink at 40d?)with a fast spin and hot dry. If it was more delicate items i'd put it on the cool dry, slow spin, but l never bothered about the supposed weight limit (don't most people)and always 9/10th filled the tub, although I ususally took some clothes out like woolies before drying. It goes against instructions & was probably quite wrong but the clothes seemed to come out alrigh…

A racket of noise has developed within the 10yr old Indesit Wil 123s washer whilst on full spin cycle and it's definately not the bearing. The three paddles attached to the drum wall are not tight but lose fitting and make a similar noise if rattled by hand. This noise of plastic on metal is greatly exacerbated when on full spin, should the paddles be snug fitting and therefore need replacing due to wear and tear, and if that's the case, how are they removed to fit new ones? I have perused the site and this noise problem isn't covered. Regards and thank you for reading

There has been no prior problems, the washing machine just started flashing lights after several minutes into a cycle. I traced the problem to the motor not turning. The relays on the control board are clicking, but the motor doesn't even try. Before I go further I must point out that I do know what I'm doing with electronics and electricity. I know how to play safe. I searched for a new control board, but didn't find one until I spotted an Indesit one that was identical. Shame, when I bought a Hotpoint I thought I was buying quality. With problems my parents had with Indesit in the past I bet it's the triac. The triac is a BTB10-800BW, I can get a BTB10-600BW (600…

We had an engineer to fix the dish washer and whilst he was here asked him about the washing machine door seal which is coated with black slime/mold. He said the only choice was to get a new seal and that it would happen again. He said we could try to clean it but it would take all day and now I have read there are problems with spores and that you should wear a mask and goggles!! Any advice??

hello, I've got a hairline crack in my washing machines tub and was wondering if it would be possible to use a heat gun of some sort to melt the plastic together. the crack is about 3cm long and is dripping about three cups of water per cycle. Thanks.

My Miele machine makes an awful smell, and it gets worse from maybe a day after using it. The smell takes over the whole house and gets to the back of your throat. I seem to have tried everything - white distilled vinegar. countless hot washes at 95, water plus. I've cleaned out the detergent drawer so it is spotless and i've cleaned inside the machine itself. I've also check my U bends, drains and opened the flap at the bottom off the machine and cleaned in there. Also i have a small flexible brush which I've used to clean out every hole/pipe in the machine i could find. Also I check the inlet filter and that wasn't blocked either When I open the flap at the bottom of…

The above stops, won't drain or spin automatically. Lights flash 14 times. Can operate it manually to drain/spin. Have cleaned out pump filter (which needed doing).

It does not seem to want to pull out, I have looked for catches, do you need to remove the washer top? Also is there are service or user manual for this machine. Thanks John.

Just need a bit of advice. This machine has been standing idle for a few years and we can't find the user manual. It's working fine but I need to clean the dispenser drawer and can't for the life of me work out how to get it out. On all other machines you've either pressed the sides in or the top, but nothing seems to work. Can you help me please. thanks

hi,hope you can help me, in fact its your blog that is keeping me sane through the problem i am having, i purchased a new miele washing machine which would have been excellent but for the excessive soap suds it created, the more i tried to rinse them away the worse they became. I used to have to put the clothes on numerous washes or rinses to try and get rid of the suds. An engineer came to the machine but said there was no fault ( i tried different detergents and could only use small amounts, not enough to clean the clothes ) eventually the shop i purchased it from changed it and i chose a hotpoint, only to find to my horror ,the same problem although it is easier to ge…

Or more accurately, a small, flimsy, piece of net. It's not in the filter where the socks normally go, and I've shaken the clothes out and I can't see it there. Would it be impossible for a small item to go out with the drain water, or can they get sucked into the machine somehow and bugger it up? I know you should use a laundry bag for small items but I didn't have one to hand this time and just curious where it might have gone. Cheers.

Just a brief question although I suspect I know the answer. My indesit 1263W will not turn its drum. I have run simple check of all the other items within the unit, solenoids etc and found no fault so I am guessing its either a motor or command / timer fault. I have removed the 6 point connection to the motor and I have a supply of 50 volts on several pins on the start of spin cycle I have then checked that a voltage again around 50 volts is down to the brushes, I am guessing this is an easy/slow start for the motor. I have checked the brushes and frankly surprised myself at how much life there is left in them. Any idea of cost of possible parts because I'm already being …

My 3 yr old Indesit washer has suddenly decided not to spin up to speed on the spin cycle. It washes and rinses ok but when it gets to the fast spin part it wont get up to speed. It tries to speed up for a couple of seconds then seems to cut out, this continues a few times until the controller reaches its stop and the cloathing is left sopping wet in the drum. Would it be a motor problem or a sensor problem?

I have an Indesit WG12 that as of yesterday won't turn the motor. I have checked the carbon brushes and they seem to have plenty of life left in them. Could it be the control module?

My Zanussi Washer Dryer works fine on wash cycle, but 5 minutes into any dry cycle, it comes up with error code E10 (which means a problem with the water inflow). How come?? The water flows in fine for the wash cycle, so I know the supply is OK. Also, why does it need cold water IN for a dry cycle???

My washer stops its cycle at 1 minute left with door locked. Banging on the panel around the door jumps the cycle to CL and the door opens. Its getting harder and harder to open however. Any Suggestions as what might be wrong and how to access the part for repair?

I have an Indesit Evolution 1600 WE16 and have had a fault code of F05 I've restarted the machine and it has completed a cycle without a problem. Bearing in mind the advice given on this site about the dangers of ignoring small problems, can you tell me what this fault code means and whether I need to get someone to look at it? Many thanks for any help.

My 3 or 4 year old Zanussi Jetsystem 1200 (FJS 1225 W) won't spin fast anymore. The drum "kicks" and then idles / chugs at a very low speed when trying to spin. The drain pump is running in the background. The drum spins easily by hand. Running with no load makes no improvement. I have cleaned out pipes, blown down pipes etc and have removed a TINY bit of muck ... but to no avail. I also killed the processor unit by making it wet when I tipped the machine on its side - but 30 minutes of warm hairdryer brought it back to life! The processor relays click at regular intervals during spin mode - the motor jumps into life ... and then slumps as soon as each spin cycle star…

I have an Indesit WD12 washer/dryer. Everything works fine, but it has recently developed a very noisy spin cycle. I understand this is most likely to be the drum bearings. I have two questions. The first is how is it effecting a repair on this machine. I have read another post regarding a WG10 and that sounded like it could be problematic. Do service manuals exist? The second is what would have caused this? The only thing I can think of is that recently when it was moved we lost one of the front feet. We got a new one sent through but the sent a foot that was too large. It meant that the machine is now tilted slightly backwards. It was better than it being unstable b…

Hi all this is my first post so please be gentle. My Zanussi washing machine tripped the MCB half way through a cycle. I manually drained water out and upon closer inspection discovered that a couple of wires down towards pump had worn through sleeve( poor build quality) . Resulting in earthing out on part of the metal casing. Ive re insulated wire and the washing machine works, but the door will not open ! Im guessing that the interlock has been damaged by the shorting out. Any way of removing the interlock without damage on this model ? Will a new interlock fix this issue ? Any help or experience would be appreciated ?
