Hello, Picked up one of these machines with a damaged tub. Previous lady grossly overloaded it and knocked a balancing weight off the tub. I've repaired this and the machine now works great, except... ...the dyson engineers have frigged/bodged/"upgraded" (delete as appropriate) the machine to disable it's flagship contra-rotation feature. Now both drums spin the same direction, even during the wash part of the cycle... I would like to undo this "upgrade" to restore the original wash functionality. (provided that you don't grossly overload the machine/live in a hard water area they tend to work fine) Dyson email support say "not possible" Dyson telephone support were …

hi all, I've had a few problems of late with my zanussi IZ141s, a few months months back it began stopping mid cycle showing a fault code (possibly e20 but not 100% sure). however that has recently stopped happening, now the machine will not begin a cycle. on pressing start it makes all the right noises as if it is going to fill but doesn't and then it stops all together. if i shake the machine vigorously then it sometimes gets going but doesn't always complete the cycle. any help/advice would much appreciated, as i'm trying make the tough decision of repair or replace?

I have a Candy CMD146. Mid-way through the washing programme at the point when It should spin dry, instead of the machine building up the spin speed it spins at max speed. This causes the machince to voilently wobble which stops the machine from running, It then tries again at running max speed, this repeats until the machince has had enough and stops completly and flashing lights appear. On occasions the machine behaves itself and does a full programme without problems, but 90% of the time it fails. It is not affected by the amount of washing I put into it. I'm trying to find out which part is most likely at fault and buy and install that part.

Hi, I have a HotPoint Ultima WF860. I have fitted a new main board & have two wires coming from the heater & 2 spade connectors on the board. 1 wire is green & blue, the other is green & brown. I don't know which way round they go or if it matters? Alternatively, anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram? Thanks. There are 2 block connectors on the board with 2 spare spades on each, it's deciding which one to try.

Hi all, first post here. I recently replaced the element on my hotpoint washer dryer (the one for the dryer - at the top). It worked fine for a few times, and then it tripped my electrics. It is now dead, will not turn on at all, door is stuck locked with a load of clothes in. I replaced the fuse, flicked my switch on my electric box and it still didnt work I then opened up the top, and noticed that the brown wire that comes out the top of the dryer element had come apart in the middle - it is little and silver and looks like fuse wire. I soldered the wire back together and hoped for the best, but it is still dead. On inspection all appears to be ok other than that…

Just moved a working Bosch 1400 Express washing machine from one house to another. It was working fine. Now the machine isn't filling with water. I checked the water connection - and water comes out of the hose when I remove it from back of machine - but when I reconnect it to the machine and switch it on - no water enters the machine. I can switch the programme to drain - and the door can be opened. I've removed the filter cover - the impellor moves. Model Ref WFX2867GB/09 Any ideas? Thanks Richard

Hi8, I have read through the FAQ and cannot find an answer there or on the Community forum, So far I have checked and tested the fuses, tried other appliances in the plugs and checked there are no loose wires in the plug, When we came home for a few days away, the electrics to the machine had tripped, we replaced the fuse, but the machine led lights will not come on at all,it appears to be completely dead, so can somebody please describe the progression of testing we need to do on the machine? ie test the whatever first? thanks for your help in advance. Anne

Hello I have a old hotpoint 9518P which won't turn the motor any more. The timer turns and clicks, but the drum motor will not turn, the pump motor does work. I have checked the motor brushes and they are not worn out yet, I replaced them about a year ago. the brush contacts on the inner motor coil look ok no visable damage. I tested the resistance of the motor coils, approx outer 3ohm's inner 4 ohms (inc brushes). I tested the connecting cable and is looks ok with the multimeter. I tested the controller output 40v ac to the inter coil and 26v ac to the outer coil. The controller is a reverbed one this summer. does any one know what is wrong here? I don't want t…

We had bought this model of washer/dryer last week, installed last Thursday. After each drying cycle, when the door is opened, there is a lot of steam comes from the drum and the clothes are hot. Is this to be expected, or is there a fault. As far as I understand the handbook, there is supposed to be a cool tumble before the end of the cycle. Thanks in advance for any comments.

The machine goes through a wash cycle but will not spin. I have tried selecting the spin only function with no clothes loaded but it still does not spin. I checked the motor brushes and although worn they seemed ok. I renewed them anyway. I have removed the rubber tube from the underside of the pressure switch, but no "click" was heard. Tried spin cycle with the rubber tube removed but no difference. Any more suggestions?

Hi, I am struggling with my machine. I am disabled and can't really afford to pay an engineer to come. Last week my machine leaked a bit. I took the lid off and ran it and saw that one of the internal hoses (which runs water from the inlet valve to the soap draw) was expanding when the inlet valve was letting water in, causing water to leak out of the end where it is clipped to the inlet valve. I replaced it thinking it was a worn hose and the machine has worked for a couple of days. Today though I heard a popping sound when it was running, I went to the kitchen to investigate and the electrics tripped the fuse for all the downstairs sockets. Water (more was pooling i…

Hi everyone I'm hoping to get some advice on reviving my mothers Hoover Netxra Optima HNF7167 washing machine. It all started when the 3 paddles broke, they were hanging on by the their screw fixings, which led to the machine not rinsing or spinning at the end of programs. I ordered and fitted new paddles and removed the coins and gunk from the drain, pump and hoses. When i turned on the machine and started a program it started as normal except that the LEDs seemed to have a mind of their own, I did not realize at the time that it was an error code so my mother stopped the program and turned the socket power off then on again. Now the machine shows no sign of life at all.…

On Saturday morning our trusty Zanussi FJ1214/B (914837001) was in mid-wash when the house RCD tripped. There wasn't much else running so we suspect the washer was the cause. My wife reset the RCD and the wash cycle continued to completion. She opened the door as normal but the clothes were still wet. I have since tried just to run the spin cycles (both of them, short and long) with no clothes in the washer. The pump runs but the drum does not spin. It does not even try to spin - nothing. It rotates immediately and strongly during the wash and distribution cycles. But it sits stationary through the spin cycle. By a process of elimination I have concluded that it's the tim…

Hi I have had a problem with my Indesit W161. At first I had the program selector just going round, with the help of the internet I found that it was a coin in the water pump. I removed this coin and it worked fine for a few weeks. Then I got another fault and my wife checked the pump and found yet another coin in the pump. Se we did the same thing, only this time it did not fix it. so I figured we must have bust the pump. I bought a new pump, fitted it and still had the problem. I also read that the pressure switch can be a problem so I took the switch off and tested it with a circuit tester and it is working. I have made a video of the fault codes and put it onto …

Hi all, The machine works perfectly except the drum doesn't turn. Water goes in, water goes out, the programme timer turns. I've taken the top and back off and I can hear the relay switching to turn the drum motor on but no action. There's not even any attempt to turn the drum. The belt's Ok. The motor turns freely by hand. Any ideas as to where to start to look? Thanks, Richard

Hi guys. My indesit washing machine has developed some strange noises etc... Firstly a big bang on saturday. When load had stopped (after making lots of noises) the washing was black and there was bits of what looks like shredded synthetic (like plastic) inside the drum. I have just spun it now and although working the drum sounds like it has friction, and catching when going around. Any ideas? Had back off and belt fine, had top off and cant see any foreign objects. Thanks in advance

Machine about 5 years old - heard a loud dull thud - took out the trip in consumer unit but 13a fuse in plug top OK !! Smell of electrical overheating .... Machine appears to fill spin empty OK but no sign of heat so suspect heater......(!) I'm a competent electronic engineer but how difficult is it to change the element (c £30 as a spare part)? I presume some gasket / seal is involved and is it tricky or a major strip down to get at ? thanks
