Our Hoover washer-dryer model 856DG-80 has a serious fault. It has been making a lot of noise, jumping across the room recently. I also noticed that the drum bangs when moved, and I could here some jangling sounds. So, I had a look underneath the machine, and found that the large concrete block has broken in two, plus the attachment to the drum has broken. The photo shows the concrete block, plus all the fixings which were rattling about in the machine (bolts, washers and some plastic). My question is this: is it a write-off, or is this worth paying the £116 to Hoover to come out and fix (and pay for more parts)? Given that the plastic which broke off appears to be off …

Hello, Our washing machine has started leaking from the drum at the back. It will start a cycle and then start leaking and (I'm guessing) the water pours over the motor and it gives up. If I dry it out it'll run for slightly longer and then fail again. It's no longer under warranty. I'm happy to give this a go - does anybody have any advice for sealing this? Thanks in advance!

Here is a link to another washer that makes the same sound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=auE2a8ixk-A I have a noisy Whirlpool wtw8800yc0 mainly noisy on Spin, very noisy (like an airplane taking off) Checked underneeth no grease spots or water leak. Did change the Tub hub assembly (Do I have to put any grease under any of these parts?) If I turn the tub by hand I can hear somekind of light grinding ? Also noticed that when i rotate the basket there is like a brake that slows it down. Ran the diagnostic self test and all good. Works perfectly beside the loud noise on spin, this wahser is just about 2 years old. Any idea How to differenciate a problem with the tr…

Hi I have been having some trouble with my above mentioned washing machine. I bought this new 2 1/2 years ago with no problems until now. I had a wash on while I was out and came back to find the lights flashing rapidly on the machine and the machine hadn't finished the wash and still had some water in. I tried to put on a drain cycle but this failed and the lights flashed again. After painstakingly slowly emptying my drenched clothes and all the water (with a jug!) i took the front of the machine off to check the pump - no problems noticed there. I have also looked at the back of the machine and notice no kinks in tubing or anything (the machine hasn't been moved since…

By mistake I turned on the washing machine without turning on the water valves. It ran for about 10 minutes. Maybe longer. I do not recall what cycle it reached. Is there likely damage? Should I call a technician before running it again?

I have a problem with my Indesit WIXL 143 - 4 years old. After a wash, clothes are still saturated with water. The machine doesn't transfer to a fast spin. On any program, all lights are flashing. Checked the pump, outlet hose and filter etc. - all clear, no blockage. Thanks in advance.

Hi I've a 2 and a half year old AEG12843VIT washer dryer which has now stopped working with the following symptons: No lights on control panel No responce from buttons on control panel LCD display as no digits The above occurs when the control dial is off or switched to a programme. If the control dial is switched to a programme, then off then back to a programme the LCD illuminates...but again no digits in it. The problem occured suddenly...went from working fine to no responce as above on next wash. Have tried turning off, leaving off (time varying between 20 minutes and 24 hours) and then trying again. Using this I got it to work again for a couple of washes...but n…

Hi, my next door neighbour is an old lady, who has recently had a new Bosch washing machine installed. She is very frustrated because the machine isn't behaving as you'd expect. I've had a look too, and she seems to be right. We have only tried the "Mixed Load" cycle so far. There are two problems: 1. The cycle starts, then after about 10 minutes, it stops and continually beeps. Nobody was near the Start/Pause button at the time. What caused this? 2. The soap wasn't rinsed from the drawer during the wash part of the cycle as I would expect, instead it happened during the rinse part. Is that normal? Many thanks Hugo

Hi all, hope all well. I have a hoover dyn9144dg washing machine that I've had for 3 years. It has all of a sudden stopped working and I have been getting error message e01 and also the lock door light stays flashing. I thought maybe the door lock sensor may have gone so replaced the door lock. I now get error message e02 and the odd e01 and the door lock light still flashing. Because of the above problem the washing machine does not start at all. Any help or advice appreciated. Many thanks

Greetings! My Performa was smelling musty even after running several cycles of hot water with Affresh™, so I decided to take off the tub top and have a look. This is what I found. (If you can't see the image, the entire underside of the tub cap is covered in a thick mat of crud.) How does dirt get up into the tub top in the first place? The water level's never supposed to go that high, is it? But it must have been happening consistently for years to accumulate that kind of buildup...

This machine is about 12 months old and i feel has never been that good at getting water out of clothes even on a 1400 spin. Even after a wash cycle you have to give it a second spin when its finished. We have checked the filter and that isn't blocked. What we did do today when they came out sopping wet even after a couple of spins was turn the power off as if to do a reset and that seemed to help. Any help or advice on this is appreciated.

I bought a 6kg Hoover Top Loading Washing Machine in Tenerife for a holiday rental apartment that I own there. I have had the machine since January 2014 and the belt has come off 4 times. The shop that I bought it from says that it is being overloaded on the rapid cycle and that you can only put a 1.5-2kg in on this cycle, They claim that this overloading is causing the belt to come off and it is not their problem. This does not make any sense to me,even if people are putting in a full load on the rapid cycle , all that I would expect to happen would be the clothes would not come out clean. I would be grateful for any thoughts, I had a Top Loading Whirlpool machine …

Hello, Just wanted to ask for some advice here. I have an Indesit WIL153 washing machine that I've had now for so many years now I can't remember. Anyway, I put a load of clothes in as I normally do and started the wash and towards the end of the cycle, there was a loud crunching noise, so I rushed out to have a look and noticed that the drum had stopped moving and if it did, it sort of gave off a grinding noise. I immediately stopped the cycle and pulled out the clothes and checked the inside of the drum. I noticed that the drum had been damaged quite badly. I'll add some photos to show the damage I'm talking about. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v293/RozzaC/IMG_…

Hi, I've searched the forum and checked the troubleshooting section, but cant find an answer. The washing machine come up with a drain fault code in the wash cycle and does not complete the cycle. I've checked the filter, Checked the large drain hose from the drum Checked the recirc pump (it was easier to get to the recirc than the drain, I was checking on sludge build up) and it was clean. Sometimes the machine drains and sometimes it doesn't, the pump seems to be working as it hums and occasionally does drain the machine completing the cycle or if it shows a fault code if you pause and restart it can carry on as normal, but more often than not it fails again. So …

HELP! With Dyson having "pulled the plug" on support and service of their washing machines without informing us directly - NO, I did NOT receive any such communication from Dyson as claimed and my washing machine was repaired and serviced 25th September 2012 less than a week before Dyson claim they informed everyone - are there any Dyson-washing-machine-engineers out there servicing my area looking to earn some extra money fixing my beloved CR01? I (as in my wife) keep getting messages 'close inner door' and 'close outer door'. Need this "fixed" as well as a new inner door, a new outer door and a new detergent drawer. This old work horse has years of life left before it …

Hi, My LG WM12220FD washing machine drains intermittently. I have stripped out the pumps and cleaned them (one was particularly gunged up) checked for open circuits, which were fine, and cleaned the hoses. The machine is still only draining intermittently although if I quickly switch the plug on and off the machine will then carry on as if no fault had occurred. The only thing I can think of is that the control board may have become faulty? Any advice please? Thanks Mervyn

Hi, One of my drum lifter paddles broke off in my Hotpoint BWD129. Some of the plastic clips had broke on it so I ordered a new one. When I went to fit it, I noticed that the metal locking tab has snapped off the drum so although I can fit the plastic drum lifter paddle - it comes off under a heavy wash load due to the lack of a tab. Is there any kind of contraption I can buy as a replacement to the metal locking tab to ensure the drum lifter paddle can't slide off easily. Thanks in advance, Gary

Hi Hopefully someone can point me I the right direction here. I did follow your DIY repair link but there's nothing there that really addresses my problem. I have the above washer dryer. It seems to wash & drain fine but after the spin cycle the clothes are still very wet. I've removed the bottom hose that connects the drum to the pump and cleaned this out (a hair clip; a 2 p; and some gunk). When I disconnected it I got a small amount of water out, maybe a cereal bowl full but that's it so I think it's draining and suspect something to do with the actual spin. The pump itself I replaced about 2 yrs ago and more recently I had to change something to do with power…

Hi all, I have a 7 year old zanussi zwk1231w fron load washing machine. Recently the recirculation pump has started to make a low rumbling noise. Noise stops when the water is emptying or filling. If I turn the drum manually it turns fine with no noise. Even if the machine is not spinning the noise is there so not sure dampers/springs/weights are the issue I replaced the pump but the noise remains I followed the hose from circulation pump up to the top of the drum where it looks like its supposed to spray water into the drum from above. This is known as a recirculation hose. I noticed brown residue coating the inside of the hose ( see attached pic) Now I'm wonderi…

Machine would not switch on yesterday, no lights on display. Fuse OK and socket OK. Today everything works OK. Thought it might be door interlock but having tried it today, door being open does not prevent lights coming on when programme selected, just stops machine from starting. My thoughts are programmer/electronics unit. Any other thoughts?

Greetings, My 10 year old Candy CBL85 has served us very well. Recently we have had to use the cold washes as the two main wash cycles do heat the water, but stop at the spinner section If the spinner section is switched on again, after a failed cycle it will spin, but at a reduced speed (it will go up in increments to 650 rpm and not 850 as normal.) The whole cycle seems normal up to the spin part except for the appearence of white mist. I thought it was smoke, but it doesn't smell like smoke. Its like a white mist coming out of all the cracks in the upper part of the machine. I removed the lid and ran the programme again, but it was difficult to see where the mist w…

My washing machine is running throught its programme but once it comes near the end the drum stops turning and then the clothes are dried, it seems to wash the clothes but then doesnt dry them. Previously there has been a burning smell very occasionally which seemed to have stopped. I tried to turn the drum but it doesnt turn continously once the machine has stopped and is empty, it clunks a little. Anyone any ideas on the problem?
