So, my Bosch Maxx washing machine (unkown age, perhaps 7 years) stopped rotating. A local engineer came and replaced the brushes, whcih were evidently worn. It worked,. It made some screechy noises, but he said this was normal and was bedding in. Then after 3 or 4 cycles, it tripped the RCD. The motor is apparently burnt out, with plastic melted around it. He obviously says it was a worn machine and this might have happened anyway. I find the timing just too unlikely that it wasn't him that caused it. Is there any way of telling?

I have an Electrolux EWF 1087 Front loader washing machine and have recently had a problem with a leak. It happened during the fill stage (water going in) before the spin cycle. At first water leaked out of the bottom of the machine (couldn't see where) and then it squirted out the front of the machine around the rubber seal (near the bottom of the seal where the door seals). After reading around it seems that this can be due to the three holes bridging the outer drum to the inner drum (at the bottom of the rubber ring seal) being blocked. I'm not sure what the purpose of these are. If the outer drum fills with water then water should seep through the holes in the was…

Hi, I'm sure these types of questions have been covered at length in other forums, but with each situation being different I thought it worth checking. I inherited a washing machine (quite literally) and it sat in my garage for a few years. It was brand new, but I didn't need it. I've just moved house and have tried installing the washing machine and it is tripping the electrics. Before going in the garage it was pretty much brand new, so don't think it's a wear-and-tear issue. When we first got it in the house, it tripped the electrics straight away, wouldn't fill (was a stop cock issue). After a bit of time I got the rinse cycle working, but not filled with water…

Hi All, I have a Hotpoint ADL520 washer/dryer. Recently the dryer stopped drying properly and now the washing comes out hot and steamy and still very much wet. I have seen a post on here regarding this issue with another model of machine, so I started taking the washing machine apart to look for the condenser. I can see two water hoses coming in to the machine, one goes to the heater element (I think - a grey metal horn shaped box on top of drum?) and the other goes into the back of the drum assembly (well into the plastic case which surrounds it). SO is the condenser all part of the drum assembly, Do I need to take the entire machine to bits as I can't see a way o…

Hi there, Any help would be great. I own a Beko WM5120s washing machine. It has started tripping out the power at the beginning of a new wash. I put it on and the pump runs for about 2 seconds then the power trips. I am wondering if it is the pump that needs replacing? The first time this happened was at the end of the cycle when the water drains and it tripped then making think it was the pump. I have taken a look inside and there is no water leaking on any parts and I cannot see any loose cable that could be causing a short. Any help would be great Cheers Tom

Hello sorry if this is a question asked many times - I have an Indesit Moon whose only problem are sticky buttons, in particular the one indicates with "A" in the image. Now, this recirs even if I am careful not to drop liquids etc - so I was wondering if it was possible to easilytake out the push bottens, give the inside housing a godd cleaning, and then put it back. Can I just wedge them out, or doing so will break a plastic part etc? Thanks FDG, Sheffield

Hi, I would be grateful if anyone could help me please. My washing machine goes through the cycles (correctly I think), however when the wash finishes the washing is nowhere near dry, in fact it's soaking. You can hear that it goes into a spin cycle. I took out the filter at the front of the machine and cleaned it, a lot of water drained away when I undid the filter, however it hasn't helped. Thankyou in advance Russ

Hello everyone, I'm new to this forum and am sorry for just coming fresh and asking for help, but any is necessary as this issue is haunting me for quite a few days now. My Hotpoint BHWD129 won't drain water whenever it should. It gets stuck upon every attempt and 5 LEDs flash (extra options and the start/stop button). This issue persists for over two weeks now. I have self-drained the machine myself numerously, checked the filter and bought a new pump. I've checked hoses also. Today, upon installation of the new pump, I have done an empty washing machine run and everything went smooth, water drained. However, when I ran a washing cycle again, it just stops before go…

Hi, We have an Indesit IWC6105 washing machine around 3 years old. The drum has stopped turning. It did have a moment where all the lights flashed on the front console and the manual said to turn it off at the plug for a moment and switch it back on again which we done. The lights stopped flashing but didn't do much else to help fix the problem. I have taken off the rear panel and the belt is still attached and ok although it does seem quite easy to rotate the drum, ie not a lot of friction. When we set the machine to spin only the programme starts, the door locks but nothing happens, you can hear a couple of clicks as if something is trying but the drum does not turn…

Hi I hope someone can help me, I have a Zanussi ZWF1210 that's just turned ten & it's developed a metallic scraping/squeaking noise when the drum is turning in either direction, the drum can also be moved away from the door seal very easily & I think it might be worn bearings. The machine has had very heavy use over the last ten years & may have been overloaded at times. It's never had underwired bras in it & trouser pockets have always been checked for coins. Apart from this noise the machine has worked without fault for the last ten years & would be sad to part with it, if it's the bearings is it an easy fix & would I be better off buying a new …

Hi I have just purchased an Indesit XWC61651W washing machine however, I cannot override the Push & Wash button (this works fine). For example, I want to do a wool wash, so I put it on No5 with 800 speed & 40 degrees as instructed in the manual. I have not selected the incorrect spin or temp as this model will beep if it is not compatible. The start/pause button blinks and continues to blink after pressing it. There is no delayed start on this model, so it isn't that. Has anyone any suggestions? Thanks

The piece at the bottom of my washing machine appears to have become slightly disloged by someone moving it around in the room. It doesnt feel like it just pops out.. how do I get it back in? Do I need to remove the bolts by the filter? I'm afriad I might break/snap it if I try to just push it back in or out.. doesnt feel like it wants to come either way without force. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help... p.s. I read through the PDF manual on AEG's website but it doesnt seem to mention this part. On my old washing machine (a Hotpoint) there was a similar piece that just clicked into place very easily but this seems to be a bit more complicated.

Hi There I wonder if you can help me. My washing machine drum will not turn at anytime. I have checked the belt and it is ok. The motor (Nidec 20584.453) is at the bottom and does not appear to have any symptoms of burning and no loose wires. I see that there are brushes but these look rather difficult to remove without removing the motor itself Would be grateful for any advice Thank you Ralph

Hi, just a quick query or rather confirmation I think. I have had this trusty machine now for almost 16 years and whilst it has broken down now and again, it has always been worth fixing. Put a load on today and it just stop mid cycle. After clicking the rotary control on manually one click at a time, it does nothing. So clicked it all the way to finish. Took clothes out. Started new cycle withing nothing in and just clicks all the time trying to find something, rotary control does not move at all. Took lid off and listened to where the clicking was coming from and it appears to be around the printed circuit board/back of the on/off switch. I am guessing that the circuit…

Hi i have a hotpoint wd865 , it goes through the cycle ok but when it comes to dry it heats up ok but the clothes end up coming out wetter than when it started, ive checked the outlet hose and cleaned also the pump and the filter with the ball in it. it seems to me to be when the water enters the condensor or to clean the filter that its that water that is staying in the base of machine , any ideas ?

Hi there hope you're all well. I've got a ZWH 6120p that's refusing to start washing after packing up halfway through a cycle. . Turn the program dial and press go and I receive a series of red flashes on the LED on the start button followed by green flashes. Now I've counted them and it's 11 RED followed by 2 GREEN. I did a little bit of basic Googling and found this site : http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/help/fix-it-yourself/fault-codes/laundry-fault-codes/3068-zanussi-washing-machine-error-codes.html The error code there would mean mains voltage too high however the fascia panel doesn't match up with those & I can't find a diagnostic manual for the 6120P anywhere…

Hi. I am currently experiencing a problem with my washing machine. It is a Hoover optimum EmMY 139 D. When I select the programme and the start button the door interlock sign keeps flashing and the door won't lock and commence the wash. I have replaced the interlock but the problem remains. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thank you Stuart

Hello, I looked through the help section about this and didn't find anything that jumped out at me. I have an Ariston AML125 that has the lock icon flashing. If the dryer temperature is set other than zero, it (the light beside the "9h" - the bottom one of the four) flashes in time with the lock light. When it first happened, at the end of a load, I couldn't get the door open and ended up breaking the handle. I got the door open fiddling with the latch from the broken handle opening. I unplugged the machine for a good 10 minutes (to see if it would reset). The flashing continued when I turned it back on. I replaced the handle. Thinking that it was the locking switch, …

Hi there, I think that the settings are out of sync, as when i go to select spin, it fills rinses but doesn't spin it also takes about an hour to run through and i cant cancel. The spin seems to work on my normal washing setting. Is there anything i can do to fix this? I cant really afford to have an engineer to come out. Thank you Gemma

Hi, I have an older top-loading washing machine (Cylinda TP 80) where the drum has stopped turning or gives a few slow turns before stopping. I'm assuming the issue is with the carbon brushes and when I look I can in fact see that they're quite worn down. After contacting Cylinda however they say that there are no brushes available for this model, do I have any options here? I'm pretty new to this kind of repair, is it possible that another similar brush might fit or am I out of luck? Thanks!
