popeye
Hi wondering if anyone can help with this fault. The machine made a strange noise when it was plugged in,but not in use and now is totally dead. I have changed the fuse in the plug and still nothing. Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted January 14, 2015 Root Admin Report Share Posted January 14, 2015 If it wasn't on at the time the only thing getting power should be the mains cable, suppressor and on off switch. I would suspect the suppressor. Disconnect the machine and take the top off to inspect the suppressor which should be close to where the mains cable comes in. See if it's burned, cracked or damaged but don't touch the terminals as they can still give a shock for some time after being disconnected - Can you still get a shock repairing an appliance if it’s turned off? popeye
Thanks for that. I took the top off yesterday but didn't see slight charring and melting of suppressor. I have ordered a new one and hope that will do the job.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted January 15, 2015 Root Admin Report Share Posted January 15, 2015 I would rarely advise speculative ordering of parts. The suppressor is only the first suspect I would check. If it doesn't fix it you need to get an engineer. Need a repair or spare parts?
