I'm new to the forum so let me start by saying 'hi'! Last week I purchased a 2nd-hand Bosch WFF 1201 washing machine. This was quite a relief as for the past six months I've been hand-washing in my bathtub. The machine itself was actually repaired by an engineer and sold-on to me for £50. Upon installation/connection to the pipes under my sink, the engineer informed me that my hot-water pressure is very low. In fact he's right; the water from the hot tap only runs at about 1/3 the pressure of the cold tap. He then blurted-out something like 'don't wash at higher temperatures than 40-60'. I wasn't listening properly at the time and I don't really know what he was trying…

We have recently purhcased a Bosch Exxcel WVT1260 washer dryer and it works fine other than a tendency to "wander" on the spin cycle. We have had it replaced but the repalcement has the same problem. Is this a common problem with such machines - and other makes? And what can I do about it. It is free standing directly on new floorboards (not laminte and no floor covering as yet). Any help or guidance would be appreciated.

Hi, Just wondering if anyone can advise me on this issue. After a dark wash and the clothes dry there is white stains all through my dark clothes. This I presume is the remains of washing powder not being rinsed ? Can anyone tell me if this is the most likey cause and can I get the machine repaired to fix the lack of final rinse or something to that affect ? Tks

In a nutshell, the brushes of our Aquarius 1200 were worn out after 8 years service, I put new ones in (£15 locally, and a seemingly east task) but on its first run the insulation on one of the brush crimps burnt through (must have been touching the motor body) I refitted the crimp the other way around, but it looks as though the motor is now damaged as its blowing fuses when the motor is plugged in So the warning is, be VERY careful when fitting new brushes, be sure the wires/crimps are properly fitted and NOT touching the motor body BEFORE you switch on.

Hi We've had a Miele Paragon Plus for around seven months and are getting a black mould growth on the bottom of the door seal - what is the best way to remove this please and prevent it coming back? Also, is it best for the machine to have the door closed or open when not in use? - the instructions advise having it closed to prevent objects being inadvertently put in the machine. Many thanks, Chris

Hi there, I've been having problems with my Zanussi washing machine recently, I assumed there was a mechanical fault of some kind but it appears to be fine, the problem seems to be caused by the fact that the hot water fill is not high enough pressure. The machine runs its cycle fine until it gets to the stage where it wants hot water. It then sits there with the hot fill valve running (making a buzzing noise) until I move it on manually - but then the wash is poor. The valve itself is fine as I tried connecting the cold pipe to it then it works perfectly so there appears to be a problem with the water pressure which I assume I cannot do much about, the machine is fe…

As I mentioned in my first post I've just had first ever problem with my W980 mile washing machine. I wouldn't be a bit surprised if the engineer says death by limescale. We moved to North Norfolk about 5 years ago and the water is horrendous, even compared to Norwich. I use the Tesco limescale prevention tablets every wash and oko magnet ball thingy as well. I was wondering if there's anything else I could or should be doing ? I noticed last night when reading through the instruction manual for the W980 that I have been putting the limescale tab and washing tablets thingies in the wrong order , apparently Miele say detergent first and lime scale treatment next. I've…

Hello, I recently bought the John Lewis 1202 after reading lots of good feedback about it. It was delivered this Tuesday, and once it was plumbed in I ran the recommended wash with no clothes and half a measure of detergent, not all of which was taken from the drawer. Last night I ran the first wash with clothes, but at the end of the cycle I noticed once again that only about half the powder had been taken from the dispenser drawer, and none of the fabric softener. My previous washing machine (a very unsatisfactory Indesit that we inherited with the flat) was very old and clogged with detergent deposits. It, too, did not clear soap from the drawer or accept fabric soft…

Hi, The bearings on my Hotpoint WMA31 need replacing and I've been quoted £149, so have decided to get a new machine (it's older than 5 yrs). As I live in a flat, I want to get a washer/dryer, and the engineer suggested Zanussi, but not one with the jetsystem (I can’t afford a Miele and the AEG is too deep for my kitchen). However, I can't find any Zanussi w/d's without the jetsystem - are there any available new? Is there a problem with the jetsystem? Also, the engineer recommended a Bosch WAE 24162 washer only. Looks like a good machine and quiet (which is important along with a depth of no more than 60cm), but I really want a w/d. So, any advice on the above would…

Hi, I've just recently acquired a Hoover Performa 1100. Can anyboby tell me how to remove the top? I've unscrewed the three back screws, as I have took the back trim off it looks like the top is just a piece of white backed chipboard, should this chipboard top just slide out? if so this ones seems very tight? Thanks in advance. Jim Curtis

My friend's 18 year old hoover played up the other day - it wouldn't drain or spin. Drain Hose wasn't blocked, filter looked fine and the upstand to the drain wasn't blocked either. It seemed that when the programme timer went to "Spin" it would completely cut out, and let you open the door with a drum full of water! Engineer diagnosed it as the programme dial, and as the machine was so old repair wasn't possible. Eventually (as she's not got much money) she settled on a budget Servis from the local Co-Op store. Plumbed it in, switched it on. Did full wash programme. Then wouldn't drain or spin. A friend of mine thinks she's picked up the lemon in the batch. Any more…

Hello, I bought a Ariston A1436 washing machine 1.5 years ago. After I moved house, there's no heat in the wash anymore. I don't know what happened to the machine. We didn't drop it while moving it. We were very careful. My husband tried to open up the machine and check the temperature and spin dials. They seem ok. Another problem is the machine starts leaking even though my husband tried to tighten up the pipe at the back of the machine. The washing machine isn't that old but it seems have a lot of problem after moving. We did put bults on the machine before we moved. I'm still under the free 5 year parts guarantee. I know it'll be more expensive to ask Arist…

Found this website AFTER I bought my new machine whilst googling to find out why new machines are cold fill only... Anyway I plumbed in the new machine last Thursday. It's nice enough and washes clothes just fine. However it's a lot noisier than the old one, with a 'whizzy' spin that is audible as the wash progresses (sounds like something needs oiling). However the main thing that concerns me is that it seems to be pumping an awful lot, even whilst spinning and I don't recall my old machine doing this. I used the waste pipe under my sink same as the old machine and I was very careful not to foul the waste hose when pushing the new machine back under the worktop. Do I n…

hi anybody got any ideas as to why every time my machine a(baumatic mega 6ss) goes onto rinse it sends my plumbing into overflow mode from the tank in the loft, having just moved surely both plumbing systems cannot be at fault as it happened at the old house aswell even after having the ballcocks replaced

I live in a hard water area and I have been in the habit of adding water softener products (Calgon and the like) to my wash. Last year I moved to a new build block of flats and I have discovered that everyone's water supply has a Liff Softest Magnetic Descaler fitted. After I moved to this address, I kept getting white patches on my washing that would not wash out if I washed or rinsed again, so I figured that it was not the usual laundry product deposits. The stains were so stubborn I concluded they were bleach splatters from the upstairs balcony. Eventually I found a way of getting these marks off, by using a solution of 50:50 vinegar and water, or neat vinegar…

My washing machine seems to be leaking from behind a lump of concrete which I guess is used to balance the drum. I can't see why it should start leaking from here but the concrete is wet and lines up roughly with the wet spot on the floor. Can you tell me what might be causing this leak and how I can fix it (if indeed I can).

I've a problem with a washing machine that seems to have appeared and would greatly appreciate some advice before I get too frustrated! The washing machine has started making a rattling noise when the water drains out, and the noise seems to be coming from the drain pump. It sounds very unhealthy like a coin or screw in the pump. I can reproduce the noise by setting the machine to programme 13 which is the cycle for pumping out the rinsing water. Any suggestions on how to go about finding out what the problem is?

My washing machine was doing a normal load last night, and there was a loud bang. The washing machine was still half full of water & it is now completely dead. No power to it at all. I've checked all of the fuses, in the mains socket & also the washing machine plug and they are all working fine.

Indesit WE 10 Washing Machine Fault Code F02 Could you tell me what this fault code means and if there is anything I could do about it please? When I start a cycle there are a few rotations of the drum and some water comes in the machine. Then the error code comes up. I can drain the water from the drum OK, but the spin cycle or any other cycle (apart from drain) will not work.

I've got a problem with my Zanussi washing machine. History Drum stopped turning during cycle, I checked the motor brushes and they where badly worn so I replaced them. Drum is now turning. The problem is that after the spin cycle, the clothes are still wet. Sounds as if the water is pumping out down the drain, but it seems that spin cycle is very short approx 1min. Got any suggestions???

Looks like I'm not the only one here with a similar problem! Programme 8 had just finished & it went into the Rinse cycle but I stopped it manually because of a weird noise such as car keys making a rattle in the drum. (That turned out to be a pen-knife.) Now can't reset the programme. I Rang Indesit's "speedy" hotline but after 15 mins still can't get it right. I was told to turn Programme Selector knob to any Stop/Reset, wait 5 seconds, then turn knob to the Draining symbol, another wait, machine should be reprogrammed. The flashing red light which should disappear in favour of a slow-flashing light, doesn't - it stays fast-slashing. Any ideas would be most gratef…
