We have the above machine. For the past few months, clothes have been coming out sopping wet, and on watching the machine, it does sometimes not spin at all, or will not do its final spin. Recently it stopped working completely, due to worn out motor brushes, which I replaced, and I thought cured it. its better but still has the above issues. We recently noticed however, that although meant to be a 5kg machine, this is only for certain programmes, most specify a 2.5kg max load. Would an overloaded machine cause this. After more investigation, the machine works perfectly on some programs, but not others most notably the 40 degree synthetic. On this program, with a normal…

We bought the Bosch Maxx Classic a couple of years ago and for a long time I have suspected that it is TOO WATER EFFICIENT. I say this because it appears that the clothes are never swishing in water. The small amount of water it does use gets soaked up into all the clothes. I have also noticed with some clothes that they don't smell completely clean. If you have sweated in a top, then that sweat smell comes back when you wear it again after washing. I wonder if this is because of the lack of water it uses when washing? I have actually taken to adding water into the machine after about 10 minutes, so that it sits at the bottom of the door. I know the manual says that…

My washing machine leaves dark brown stains from the drum on the laundry. They are actual imprints of the drum. They will not wash out! I have run it through on 95 degree washes with a) bleach, soda, c) just the water. Any ideas/suggestions before I ruin all my clothes? Thanks in advance.

Hi, the drum has started to bounce around a fair amount, and the front/rear springs on the top of the drum are still very tight. I've noticed that the drum is bouncing on the left side when you are facing the machine, and the suspension seems quite weak on that side. I'm not sure if they can be repaired? if they are hydraulic or spring. Replacements for the lower half of the units are only £15 each, so I assume replacing them is best. My questions are.... Do I only need to replace the lower half of each unit? they are the housings and not the rods. I can undo the nut on the bottom of the machine, but have no hope getting to the nuts on the top rods, where they c…

Hi All, I've been trying to repair a Hitachi FW133 from the 1980's (Servis 600 series and possibly Electra something or other). The motor bearings need replacing but I can't get one of the bearings off because I can't get the drive pulley off. Any one know how to get the pulley off the main drive motor shaft. Any motor info/details that may have been stuck on the motor have long since gone, so if any one could suggest a manufacturer/supplier that might help. I assume the pulley is either shrunk or threaded onto the rotor shaft as I can not see any evidence of splines or woodruff key fitting. If the pulley is shrunk on, does any one know the sort of temperature requi…

I just did a normal wash at 95 degrees and when I opened the tray I noticed that the powder was still in there. When I removed the clothes from the machine they were warm, wet and looked cleaner. I assumed that they must have been washed in hot water but for some reason the function that deposits the powder into the water must be broken. After scratching my head for several minutes I noticed that the hot and cold taps under the sink were switched off! How on earth did the water manage to get into the machine and wash my clothes? Weird.

I have just bought a new Bosch classic 1200 express. I have completed 3 washes, just returned from holiday and whilst the machine was in final spin I heard a noisy rattling sound, I switched the machine off and examined the inside, I thought at first that one of the kids had left a coin in the pocket of their trousers. I found a metal bra bone, which is half circle shape. My wife examined the bras that were in the wash and found one with no bones at all we removed the loose bone and took the washing out which had almost finished anyway. Today we carried out a full wash, when the program started the final spin,, at full speed, something started a rattling sound a…

We have only recently purchased the above machine and since there were only two of us, we decided to go for the most basic and cheapest AEG model. When we did our second wash (on energy saving cycle) and I happened to be watching the washing part, and was very surprised to see how little water it uses (no sign of water except that the clothes looked wet?). Is this common? Or have I got a defective machine? Or could it be I have not turned on the water fully on?? Even when it went to the rinse cycle, again I saw very little water in the drum? Whereas I recalled using the public laundrette washing machine no matter how much clothing I stuff it into the washing machine, one …

So I have a Zanussi FLE 1416 about 2-3 years old. Changed to Surf Tablets a few weeks ago and everything was alright until 2 weeks ago. Basically, the stains aren't getting removed. I have changed back to the original powder, no change. I ran the machine with some vinegar in it to clear out the pipes, still no better. I ran the machine with a 3/4 load and still not right. I even added some OXI stuff and its no good still. So, new machine required or can someone suggest something else to try. Any help appreciated. Thanks

Hi everyone - I'm new to this forum, I found it really useful when choosing my new washing machine so am desperately hoping someone can help/advise here. I had a new miele washing machine delivered, first use - rcd tripped, knocking out all the power to all the sockets in the house. Second use - same thing, rcd tripped knocking out all the power to all the sockets in the house. Miele engineer is coming to "test" machine next week. Has anyone had this experience with their miele machine? Janice

We recently bought a new Miele 3242 to replace our old Hoover (oh what a nightmare that machine was), anyway on to my query: When the Miele is on its spin cycle (maximum 1500 rpm) there is a banging / knocking noise as if the load is out of balance, we have run the machine empty and the noise does not exist. I have checked the levels and the machine stands square and level and it is running on a flat tiled floor. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? We will call the Miele engineer out if we are not at fault but I am wondering if we are and not using it properly. Before signing off I want to say that this site has been a wonderful source of information and hel…

Hi there, I rent a place with a washing machine which is a Hoover HW 120M. The machine has two hoses blue and red which are screwd into a Y connector and then in to a single cold water tap on the wall. We have a combi boiler that heats our water. The problem is that our clothes are not coming out clean, socks still smell a bit, underarms still smell of deodrant and often the load smells like wee (that old water smell). We have tried: Removing clothes as soon as the cycle is complete. Half filling the drum Full filling of the drum Washing at higher temp Using softener Using less detergent (now using 2 or 1 Bio Ariel tablets in the drawer). Using more detergent …

Cold fill machine. We put detergent into a "ball" that goes directly into the drum. The only part of the soap dispenser used is the "softner". Over a few months we get a build up of "black stains in the dispenser and the housing into which it slides. This can be Scrubbed off but its no too easy!! None of our neigbours have the problem!! Any ideas how to cure this ... Thanks in anticipation. Dennis

Hello everyone, I am wonder if any experiences similar I have Indesit WIA121 UK washing machine, and it has started a bizarre washing problem. When I turn it on and select one of the cycles it start mid cycle. I am not sure why, because if you let it complete this cycle, switch it off and on again, it again starts mid cycle again, this can repeat for several washes before it decides that it will start at the beginning of the cycle. I have tried all the different cycles on offer and it continue to do this, but what is more annoying is its not every time I use the washing machine. Any ideas?

TOP SITE! My 10 year old Zanussi built-in machine recently started overfilling. A new similar machine looked like setting me back £500. Having read washerhelps faults pages it looked like I was looking at a pressure system problem. Having unplugged, I took off the top of the machine. Using washerhelps description, i located the pressure switch, removed the switch and hose, gently blowing into the switch I could hear it clicking and was pretty sure the actual switch was working. I checked the hose and that appeared to have no holes. I reconnected the lower end of the hose, where it sits just above the pump and again gently blew into the hose, hoping to unblock any gunk…

I recently bought a 2nd-hand Bosch WFF 1201 and the machine washes just fine. However, a nasty sulphurous smell is coming from the drum. I did some research and discovered this is due to a build-up of slime and gunk caused by the machine being used primarily for cool washes. I checked behind the rubber seal, behind the door, and there's a nasty build-up of thick slime. It's not making my clothes smell bad but the idea of washing my clothes in there is pretty unpleasant. Put simply, is there a way to clean the machine? Last night I ran a 90 degree hot-wash with no clothes in the drum and only using non-biological powder and a liberal squeeze of liquid-bleach. This got ri…
