I live in New York City and I moved into a brand new apartment building which had a front load washing machine which flooded the entire apartment. They found in the machine $0.15 and I did not use High Efficiency Soap so they are saying that the coins and the wrong soap caused the machines to flood - so I am liable and owe quite a bit of money to replace the floors. It seems unusual to me that out of hundreds of apartments in the building that I would be the only one who could have flooded the washing machine under this circumstance. It seems like a very common scenario (a few coins & low efficiency soap). Do you think its possible to flood under this circumstance a…

Hi there The door handle on my LG F1403 broke last night, leaving me with a full load of washing now stuck in the machine! The plastic handle must have perished in some way because the parts of the handle that actually open the door split. I'm not sure if there is a piece of door handle stuck in the mechanism or not, I've tried to get what's there out with my hands but it's quite sharp so kept making my fingers bleed. I can get the part easily enough for £7 or something-great! But what I need to know is how do I fit it once the part has arrived? It says 'Easy' to fit on the parts website but will I need to be able to get the door open in the first place to be able to f…

This bolt head came through the tub of a Hotpoint WMD962(P)UK washing machine. I believe it was attached to the drum. I need to know exactly where. It has sheared at the point where the head attaches to the shaft of the bolt. The shaft is 8 mm in diameter. It is a Torx head. Thanks for any help.

Bosch WVT1260 Washer Dryer..I'm not getting any heat on the drying cycle... - All 3 thermostats/cut-outs check-out OK. - Element OK - measures 35 Ohms. - 240VAC on both sides of heating element. - Dryer motor not running. - No 240VAC on heater motor starter capacitor (on either side). - Water trickle into condensation chamber OK. Seems like neither the heater element or dryer motor are not being turned on.... does anyone have any ideas what could be causing this? Drum is turning ok, and seems to go through drying cycle, but no heat... Are there any other temperture cutouts or sensors I should take a look at? Any experts out there who can point me in the right di…

So, my washing machine has, in the past few weeks, decided that our favourite washing programme should involve the machine spitting out heaps of water through the dispenser drawer during the spin-phase of the programme. We use programme "E" which usually includes wash, rinse, empty and spin. However it seems to be missing out the 'empty' stage, meaning that the spin stage occurs with the machine filled with water, and for some reason this causes it to come out of the dispenser drawer onto the kitchen floor. So in order to wash our clothes we have to put it on this cycle, listen carefully for it to start its spin cycle, once it starts the spin run to the kitchen and canc…

Hey, I have a hotpoint wd440 and the handle snapped and in order to replace it I forced the door lock. After replacing the handle and trying to start the machine the 'door locked' light was flashing and it didn't lock or start up. After leaving it off for a while and trying to start it again only the 'wash' light illuminated and nothing happened (door didn't lock). Guessing that I may have damaged the interlock by forcing the door I replaced this as well but to no avail. As before the door does not lock, the 'wash' light illuminates and nothing happens. The machine was working fine until I broke the handle (and started messing around with it!). Is there any way for…

Our Bosch Axxis washing machine is totally on the fritz. It went into a constant "cycle" drawing too much water and flooded the room two nights ago. We turned off the water supply and I was able to drain the unit. However, the door remains locked and it says 'Cannot Open Door - Water Level Too High'. (I can't see any water in the unit.) We unplugged it from the power source but the door is still locked. I'd really like to get my clothes out. Any advice?

Can anyone help? I put a load of washing on and when I went to unload the machine at what i expected to be the end of its cycle I found the machine had stopped before completion. I pushed the start button again and since then the machine is constantly filling with water even on the spin programme. I have tried the cancel button to reset the machine to rule out any programming error to no avail. What could the problem be?

Hi, Looking for some help please. I have a HAUS mw-1050, but the machine wont kick into a full spin cycle. I can get it to go on a pin only cycle when the machine is empty, but not when there is anything in it. I tried this to establish if it was the motor or not, and I think this has ruled that out. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks James

Hi, I've a brand new Bosch WAS28461GB Logixx 8 that leaks from the soap draw (from both underneath and from the handle). It only seems to do this on 60 and 90 degree washes. I've called Bosch twice. The first response "was the draw closed?". Er, YES. The second time I was advised to turn the inlet tap off a little to lower the water pressure. Didnt work, but in any case the installation manual says to have an inlet pressure of 1-10bar. My water pressure is 2.5bar. The machine is levelled correctly. I cannot see any blockages (if I open the draw a little during fills, all 3 sections of the draw fill freely. I can only assume its condensation from the hot washes. Th…

Hotpoint WMA58, about 8 years old. Have just replaced the motor brushes - all is now fine with the motor and spins OK. A little noisy now, but I'm assuming that will settle as the brushes bed-in to the commutator. Put first load of washing through, but it was quite wet when it came out, even after an extra spin. Have now discovered that during the spin cycle, the cold inlet valve is pulsing (irregularly) and letting water in through the drawer. I suspect the main board at fault here. Anyone fancy doing some sanity-checking on this? Valve opens and closes fine during fill cycle, so basic operation is confirmed correct. I assume the valve at rest is closed and therefore …

Hi.. Hopefully someone can help on this before it gets very expensive. I have the above LG machine, 6 weeks out of warranty, which has a partially detached drum paddle (lifter) £1:50 part. The engineer called - after 3 weeks! Took one look at the machine and apologised, but said the only way to rectify a lifter problem on this machine was to fit a new drum - the drum is not damaged - and that would also require a new door seal. So the question is, is that true? The machine is Direct drive and the impression I was given was that you cannot get at the reverse side of the lifeter to screw it into place - it clips into place, but is the screwed from the rear - as the inner …

I have a Miele Prestige Plus 6 machine, and a small amount of water is escaping at the point where the hose is pushed into the standpipe, the hose has a P attachment on it. I have put a metal snake down the waste to ensure that it is clear. Do you have any advice on how to prevent the water from escaping from the top of the stand pipe? Thank you

Hi, I have a Miele W980 washing machine which is over 11 yrs old. The inlet warning light/buzzer has been activated. We called out a Miele engineer who diagnosed a problem with the WPS valve which is uneconomical to replace. I am trying to fit a standard inlet hose without the waterproof system but the machine is still not filling. Is the valve inside the machine still activated? If so how do I disable it. Thanks, Affers

Dear Forum, My JLWM1201 has developed a noisy drum over the last few weeks which I assume may be the bearing/s. I've had the machine about six years and it is unfortunately out of the JL extended warranty. Is it possible/safe for a novice such as me to carry out a repair? If so, are spares easy and cheap to obtain, or special tools required? If not, do you think it is financially viable to have this fixed by an engineer or would it be cheaper to buy a replacement machine? Thanks, Simon

I have a John Lewis JLWD1409. When cleaning the pump filter I pulled the drain tube too far, so when I started a wash water poured from the bottom. I turned everything off, drained the machine, put it on its side and re-fixed the tube. When I put it up-right and started it made some funny noises and there were no lights or display. I realised that when I put the machine on it's side I had not taken out the fabric softener. I took the lid off and the front panel, dried everything with a hair drier. Put it all back together. Lights come on, buttons seem to work. The problem is that whatever program I put it on when I press start it sprays some water from the top and the li…
