Hello there. It sounds like it could be related to movement of the main outer drum. Can you replicate the noise in any way by manually bouncing and shaking the tub around?

Also try shaking and moving the machine itself in case the noises caused by a crack or break in the chassis or maybe at one of the feet or wheels.

Unfortunately I never worked on top loaders. It sounds like something is catching or moving and clicking once every revolution. You'd need to disconnect the drive belt to see if the noise is coming from the motor or the drum. With it connected you are hearing the motor and drum at the same time. 

You'd also need to take off a back panel or if none is fitted, the casing would have to be removed to investigate.

Thank you for the update. Yes I thought it was something that was catching, once per revolution. However, what the hell it is and how it got there is another matter.
