Johndusty
Sorry if this seems long winded... We have had this machine for nearly 3 years now. However it is in almost constant use with nearly 3 year old twins in the house! This week, it seems to have packed in... When putting on a load, it performs the wash cycle, however it stops when time to drain and spin but doesn't display any errors. The machine drains but no spin occurs. We called an engineer to inspect and he thought I was being silly: "make sure you don't have any clothes caught in the seal" (we never had that issue). He then ran a service and diagnostic but found no issues as the machine filled up as needed, drained and spun slowly and quickly when empty, etc. I'd cleaned the filters myself prior to the engineer's arrival and ran a cleaning cycle as there is a foul smell from the machine (possibly due to the rotting lint). Once the engineer had left, I attempted to put a load on to spin/drain and the machine now stops at 14 mins remaining of the 16 minute cycle. No error messages are displayed. Called the engineer back who said that the fault might be with the 'PCB'. He advised to un-plug the machine for 30 minutes to cause a reset and try again but that the part would need replacement or replace the whole machine. Is there anyone with similar experience? Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted February 18, 2022 Root Admin Report Share Posted February 18, 2022 Hi. one of my pet hates is when engineers test washing machines with no laundry inside. Lots of faults only occur when fully loaded. When it drains the water at the end of the cycle just before spin does the drum turn at all once all the water has gone? You can hear when all the water has gone when the noise of the pump changes and it starts "slurping". Need a repair or spare parts? Johndusty
Sorry this took me so long to reply. So I had some thrilling viewing staring in front of my machine for a few minutes: I set a failed wash and dry cycle to a spin cycle. When set to the spin cycle, the time shown is 0:16. The machine starts to turn, even gets to a high speed. When the time remaining gets to 8/7 minutes the turbine slows to a stop as if normal, then the time trips to 0:14 and the door unlocks. Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted February 20, 2022 Root Admin Report Share Posted February 20, 2022 Hello John. Does it normally make that horrible humming noise? Need a repair or spare parts? Johndusty
I've not noticed. I suppose that the humming is probably the boiler... Edited February 21, 2022 by Johndusty More information
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted February 21, 2022 Root Admin Report Share Posted February 21, 2022 Ha ha no John it was definitely the washing machine. However I just realised that I had my subwoofer turned up a bit too high which made one hell of a massive low-frequency hum. Regarding the fault it's very difficult to be honest. All the lights and the display flashing and erratic or is that just an artefact of the video? If they are flashing like that then maybe there is a problem with the PCB such as a poor connection or maybe one of the components inside of the power supply. Unfortunately they are usually very expensive parts and is definitely not advisable to speculatively change one. Need a repair or spare parts? Johndusty
The flashing is purely in the recording, not visually apparent. If you like I can host a video call so you can see the behaviour live? I'd love it if this problem could be accurately diagnosed
