I wonder why Samsung stopped producing this top model washing machine?

Recommended Posts

a few years back in Currys I saw a beautiful (can I describe a washing machine as beautiful?) samsung Eco Bubble washing machine model number WW10H9600EW at a whopping €1,979.99 (a steal lol) here were the features among many:

10kg load,
Colour Touch-screen tablet like control panel on the front fascia
Built in Wi-Fi - told you when your washing had finished by texting your mobile and could start washing whilst out using mobile phone
Auto dosing - just fill up the liquid detergent and fabric softener and it calculated how much to use on each was automatically
Drum light
1600rpm, A+++ , 15min quick wash

I mean this washing machine was the dogs ******  it really was - no other washing machine out there like it.

But you try buying it now, cannot get it for love nor money. Discontinued from Samsung , and cannot even seem to get on the used market . its like hens teeth!
Why, I wonder did Samsung choose to discontinue it and just not persevere and carry on selling it or bring out an updated model with all the same features?. Maybe it wasnt a best seller and they ditched it? - what do you reckon?

Hi Andy. For me washing machines are just too functional and unreliable, and don't last long enough to justify spending obscene amounts on one :)

it does - it was really good having a go of one in currys . Not as responsive as an iphone or ipad but still pretty nifty swiping across the screen to all the settings and the pictures on it and loads of wash cycles. you could even add more cycles by the internet.

if one had the money (insert winning lotto) and they were the kind of person who wanted the best of all gadgets and keep as up date on tech I suppose then why not go for the topmost range with the most gadgety features on?

For most people it would have so many features that it would just overwhelm them and blow there mind, but then again there are also simple cycles as well for people to just put washing in and go. - a but like I compare it on par with having a DSLR camera where they put a full auto setting. So you have the best of both worlds . If you want simple washing cycle you can, but if you want to go that little extra and mess around with more settings/cycles you can do that too.

When I told someone the price once they said 'is it a washer/dryer?' I said no, its just a washing machine. They said "for that price i want it to put the washing in, wash it, dry it, iron it and put it away in the cupboard for me!! LOL :D

you say about justifying spending an obscene amount on a washing machine but I just checked currently to see what the dearest washing machine on the currys website now its €1,799.00 eur ( £1,633.13 ) an LG FH495BDS2 Smart Washing Machine , and its not a patch on the Samsung one that was. - when you look at it in at that respect, the Samsung didnt seem such a bad price.

Why anyone would pay that much for a washing machine that isn't even supposed to be high build quality - only high features is beyond me :)

Unless things have changed, all the brown goods manufacturers seem to make average quality washing machines no better or worse than the rest but they seem to focus their efforts on innovation and novelty as they do with brown goods. So to me their top models are just average quality with expensive features, and because they are all at the other side of the world they have to rely on third party networks for after sales in the UK, which is far from ideal. They rock in brown goods though. No idea why they bother with white goods.
