SAR
Hi people, Had my LG washing machine for a while and has run smoothly until the last few weeks where it is very loud on spin, like very loud. It’s like a grinding noise. Any ideas / help on sorting the issue out? Short clip os attached Thanks in advance
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted June 15, 2022 Root Admin Report Share Posted June 15, 2022 Hello Sar. Unfortunately your video didn't work. I tried to re-upload it but I got a message saying it could not play and could be corrupt. Would you be able to upload it again please? Meanwhile, can you also tell me is it a direct drive model, with no drive belt or separate motor? Need a repair or spare parts? SAR
Hi Andy, it’s a Direct Drive, bought about 8 years ago. I’ve re-attached the video, hopefully you can see it this time. Thanks IMG_0596.MOV

Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted June 16, 2022 Root Admin Report Share Posted June 16, 2022 Regarding noise, if it is a direct drive could be something to do with that. The only thing you can do really is to disconnect the washing machine from the mains, pull it out, take off the back panel, and have a look round to see if you can see or identify anything that may be loose. Try spinning the drum by hand. If you can't find anything then an engineer would plug the washing machine in, put it on spin and carefully observe and listen to try and identify where the noise is coming from. andyr12345
IMG_0596.mp4 Sounds like could be bearings on the drum wearing out @SAR. - try opening door of washing machine and push up and down the top lip of the drum, there should be no movement / play there
