Bosch WAE24167GB - turns off during a particular cycle

Recommended Posts

Yesterday my Bosch WAE24167GB washing machine turned off during the 2hr long 30 degree wash cycle. It is 5 months old and hasn't had any problems before. After about 30 minutes the washing machine just died, no error lights or anything. So I manually drained the wretched machine, switched the door override catch and emptied the drum. In order to get it to turn back on it needs to be turned off at the mains and then turned back on. I have checked the filter and the hose isn't kinked.

To test things, I ran the same cycle again but empty. It completed the 2hr long process just fine... Feeling optimistic I tried this cycle again but with clothes - the same issue occurred. Agh.

There's a cycle called 'superquick 15' and this has just completed successfully with just 2 t-shirts inside. I'm confused. Something is causing the 2hr wash cycle to fail.

Any ideas?

Make sure the wall socket it's plugged into is OK. I had an intermittent fault on my microwave recently where it kept flickering and cutting out which turned out to be a very loose wire inside the wall socket. Try having the machine running and wiggling the plug, socket and cable to see if there's any interruption to power. Other than that it sounds potentially tricky to diagnose.

If it's related to a severe bad connection somewhere it may only occur when the washing machine is drawing most power when it's heating the water so cycles and options that reduce the amount of time it is heating water could change symptoms. It's still only a theoretical explanation though.
