indesit iwc81481 Eco washing machine drum not turning

Recommended Posts

Hi all i brought a indesit iwc81481  at a warehouse sale it's 8kg 1400 spin, to be honest really good machine for the price but it is only 1 year old and i am experiencing problems :/ my drum has stopped working, its like trying to spin but not spinning. Obviously i haven't put to much washing in the machine. About a week ago when i put the washing machine on the lights flashed and it din't start so i just turned it off and on again and it starts to work fine!???

I have learn't that the machine is very unreliable and my personal opinion is go spend a little extra and get a lot more for you'r money or you will just spend more in the long run fixing the problems.

Any help would be great

Thanks

Carbon brushes shouldn't have worn out by now but if you use the machine heavily and bearing in mind it's a budget brand it's possible. However, there could be various other explanations. I have an article looking at the various possibilities but unless you can see something like the belt has come off or the brushes are worn it's going to need an engineer - Washing machine drum not turning

Hello Andy

Turns out i learn't a lot form that link it's quiet handy i think it is the belt the drum turns looser than usual and there is a squeaking sound also coming from the bottom area...

The link was great!! i am going to see how easy it is to replace the belt/call an engineer

Thanks

Hello, washing machine belts are not identified by size. The are just supplied by manufacturers and spares companies as requested per model. The belt you would need is on my affiliate spares site here - Hotpoint Poly-Vee Drive Belt 1201 J6 IWC81481 ECO

Don't let the Hotpoint reference concern you as Hotpoint, Creda and Indesit are all the same company now.

However, if it is the drive belt you should be able to hear that the motor is turning but see that the drum is struggling to turn and appears to be slipping. The same applies to the belt as the brushes, at that age no parts should be worn unless it's doing a few washes every day constantly.

That's the last thing I would suspect George. If it isn't draining the water check this link out not draining water but make sure it's not because the washing machine isn't spinning at the end which would leave the laundry wet through but most of the water would have gone.
