mawilde
My Hotpoint FEW 12 stopped working a couple of days ago. The wash cycle finished and the "Program End" light came on, but it was still full of water. I removed the drain pipe from the stand pipe and syphoned the water out the machine, so no blockages. I removed the pump and found a hair band wrapped round the impeller, so ordered a new pump. I just fitted the new pump but still have the same problem. I checked the wired from the control board to the pump and there are no breaks. I also checked the voltage to the pump and it's reading 230v on the live AND the neutral side, that can't be right can it? Any ideas before I buy a new machine!? Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted February 2, 2012 Root Admin Report Share Posted February 2, 2012 The pump needs a live and neutral to run. If power is running to the pump and then through it to the neutral side but there is no path to neutral either because of a connection problem on the neutral side or by chance the pump is switch on the neutral side then it wont run. You need a continuity test meter to check the neutral path. Engineers don't test with the machine powered up. Help article here - washer stuck full of water Need a repair or spare parts?
