tavistock
I have a Siemens XLM 1600 washing machine, about 5 years old but used sparingly. As the machine starts to spin there is a loud knocking noise from the left side of the machine, this disappears as the spin speed picks up. The technician who looked at the machine couldn't work out what it is, it isn't the bearings, but the noise can be recreasted by pushing the drum down towards the left (power off, of course). It might be the suspension leg but I open for suggestions.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted November 22, 2011 Root Admin Report Share Posted November 22, 2011 Sounds like suspension, or a loose tub weight. All possibilities I can think of are covered on my troubleshooting guide - washing machine is noisy The only puzzling thing is if a "technician" couldn't find the problem maybe it's not either? I wouldn't expect an engineer to be unable to find the cause. In the past I've had welding on the casing or rivets coming loose causing similar issues. Need a repair or spare parts?
