glider
Hi I have an LG intellowasher WM14225FD. It has developed a 'gritty' grinding and popping sound but at only certain times in the cycle. It works perfectly fine otherwise. The noise does not happen during initial fill, spins , pumping out or at other specific times during the washing cycle. I have checked the pump filter and it is empty. I was wondering if there might be some grit (I had been working with it for a oeriod and it might have got into my pockets!) caught in the heater element area and is being heated and 'jumping' about as is heated. When the wachine is spinning and pumping out there is no gritty noise at all so the pump seems to be fine or are there two pumps? Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted October 21, 2011 Root Admin Report Share Posted October 21, 2011 Sounds are difficult to pass onto someone else accurately. One possibility is sparking from the motor brushes which if gentle at this stage may be masked when the pump runs or when it's spinning. I would expect any grit to cause problems only when the washer is pumping as it gets whipped around inside the pump. I would get it checked out, it may be something or nothing but ignoring noises can sometimes prove costly. Need a repair or spare parts?
