Leaking From Soap Dispenser Drawer

Recommended Posts

Hi, wonder if you can help.

I've got a Hotpoint Aqualtis that I've had for 2-3 years and for the last few weeks it's been leaking via the soap/conditioner dispenser (quite badly) to the point where I have to put a towel on the floor to mop up the flood. The drawer is clean and is not blocked in any way so I don't understand why or how to stop it. I know it's leaking from there as I can see the splashes all the way down the machine when I open the door after the wash is complete.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Make sure the washing machine is level and not leaning forward and try turning down the water pressure if it's high (on the washing machine's taps not the main stop tap). Read my article advising on troubleshooting washing machine leaks - washing machine is leaking which has a section on leaking from the soap dispenser. Ultimately water tends to leak from soap dispenser drawers because it's either tracking across somewhere and finding a path out or more often than not it's running into the dispenser faster than it can run down into the rest of the washing machine.

Update:

I've now written a specific article on washing machine leaking from soap drawer

I think it is level but will double check tonight. Great idea to turn the water pressure down - it does sound as though it's gushing in but strange that the problem has only recently started to happen. It's a single tap but I think the water pressure is good. Thanks for the advice - I will certainly try both of those.
