Why Does My Washer Keep Adding Water Throughout A Wash?

Recommended Posts

My Partner has moved her washing machine over to my house, Its a Servis washer, after owning a Hoover washer for the last 10 years the first thing i noticed is that the machine keeps topping up with water all the way throught the wash cycle (90mins or so), i asked my partner if she had noticed this before and she could'nt remember. with my old machine it topped up 5 or 6 times at the start of the wash and that was it till rinsing started. With the Servis washer i'm a litte concerned why it is topping up all the time and wonder how the water will ever reach the desired temperature when its always adding cold water, i know its a 7kg drum but surely should'nt use so much water, the machine is about 18 months old, Any help or advise would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Paul

Hello Paul

It sounds like it may be siphoning, particularly as this fault only occurred after moving the washing machine. Read my article on Washerhelp carefully to see if you think this might be the cause of your washing machine constantly topping up with water - Washing machine constantly fills with water and goes down the drain

Hello

Thanks for your reply, this could be the issue as i noticed water was going down the drain during a wash, when i pulled the drainage pipe up it seemed to stop, it is aquote long so would have been below the waterline in the washer, i knew there would be a simple explanation to the problem, hopefully this should resolve the machine filling all the time now.
