martinwinlow Posted April 23, 2025 Posted April 23, 2025 Hi, All. Had an interesting job yesterday. Got a call to a noisy Indesit washing machine yesterday and indeed it was very noisy. It appears that the seal on the drum spindle has failed allowing water to get into the bearing and has completely ruined the bearing with a fair amount of rusty stainage staining emanating from bearing housing, collecting on the floor below the machine. Went to the store to get a new machine (a Beko one) still in its original packaging and moved it down to the customer. Unwrapped it only to discover the glass in the door smashed to smithereens. Bugger. Then the thought occurred: would the old door glass happen to fit the new one? It seemed very unlikely but worth five minutes undoing screws to see... and lo and behold, it did! Anyway, now trying to find a replacement bearing for the Indesit machine but getting nowhere fast as no one seems to supply them. The closest I could get was the entire drum at vast expense. Anyone got any suggestions? MW Isle of Colonsay
