Washing machine doesn't run its cycle.

Recommended Posts

My front load washing machine fills up with water normally but doesn's spin for a few minutes.

After a few minutes, it spins for 30 seconds, then stops again, after a few minutes, it spins for 30 seconds and it keeps going on like this.

If I change it to drain the water, it drains it no problem.

It does this on every cycle and the timer does not run down.

Does anyone know what could be wrong?

Much appreciated!

Hello there. What does it do if you put it on the spin only cycle?

Hi Andy, thank you for the reply!

When I put in on the spin only cycle it drains part of the water but it does not spin at all, it just sits.

It doesn't show any error codes.

If there is no water it just tries to drain, but doesn't spin either.

I am guessing that it's some sort of an engine problem?

Any suggestions are much appreciated.

It sounds like there is a problem with the motor, but it could be a problem with the motor getting powered.  Unfortunately this issue this has so many possible causes that it's not really for DIY. I have written an article about it, and you can discount some causes, such as a broken drive belt because obviously your motor does occasionally turn. But apart from checking connections inside the motor plug, and the connecting motor harness, and checking the motor carbon brushes (if they are fitted) you can see that you probably need testing equipment and experience to fix something like this - Washing machine drum is not turning
