David Ermer
Hi. We recently returned from a holiday abroad. Started up washing machine. It is a Miele W5740 fairly old, all went fine until near the end of the washing cycle it stopped with technical problem showing in display window. I started it up again and heard a high pitch whining sound. I realised that it sounded like a drive motor running without a load. Stripped it down and found drive belt had come off pulley. I ordered new genuine part drive belt and fitted it. Started machine up drum turning perfectly, but it was on the spin cycle and stopped after about 5 seconds later with the same technical fault showing in the display window. I checked the filter and extract pump impeller to see if anything was obstructing the impeller. All clear, but same technical fault keeps appeared on starting the machine. Could you please advise me what the problem might be. Much appreciated David Ermer
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted March 21 Root Admin Report Share Posted March 21 Hi David. Has it thrown the belt off again or is belt still on with this error. What error is it? David Ermer
Hi Andy, the belt has not come off again. Fault showing is just technical fault no letters or numbers. When I start the machine up it starts in the spin cycle where the belt originally came off. The drum spins in the normal way for about 5 seconds then cuts out with the same technical fault showing in display widow. Would you have any idea what is causing this problem. many thanks David Ermer
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted March 22 Root Admin Report Share Posted March 22 Hello David. It's very strange, it sounds like 2 unrelated faults but if the above happened at the same time it makes no sense. Unfortunately, if it just says technical fault with no letters or numbers, then it sounds like something that Miele have not published any information about. The only thing I could speculate on is that possibly a fault on the motor caused the technical fault and the belt to come off if the fault resulted in the temporary loss of control of the motor speed. But that's just pure speculation and I can't really advise how to troubleshoot. David Ermer 1 Need a repair or spare parts?
