Mihai Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 A few days ago I used the washing machine, it worked for a minute and then there was a noise, (like a short circuit), and a heavy smell, the washing machine stopped and has not worked since then. The door of the washing machine closes and I can select the programs but when I press the start button it gets stuck. No water no spin just a noise at door when i press start button. help please arctic al1000a+
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp Posted October 20, 2022 Root Admin Posted October 20, 2022 Hi. Something has shorted out or burnt out. Problem is it could be several things. You may also need a specialist insulation test meter to check and troubleshoot. Could be a capacitor, or suppressor, or the motor or various other things. The only thing I can suggest, if you are competent and determined to look, is to totally disconnect it from the mains and have a good look inside to see if you can see anything obvious, or use nose to track down the source of the burned out smell. Probably need an engineer. Mihai 1 Need a repair or spare parts? Book a Repair | Spares4Appliances WARNING: Read this before attempting any diy repairs. Mihai Posted October 20, 2022 Author Posted October 20, 2022 (edited) I took off the mask in front of the washing machine and found something like this at the closing system. Could this be the problem? when I started the washing machine, the door closes Edited October 20, 2022 by Mihai
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp Posted October 21, 2022 Root Admin Posted October 21, 2022 Definitely. It would need a new door lock, a new white connector, and all the hard and burned parts of the wires would need cutting away. Hopefully the wires could be pulled through and lengthened, so they can still reach afterwards. This is something that just shouldn't happen, and I've seen reports in the past where they issued a safety notice about this exact same thing - "risk of causing fires". Root Admin Whitegoodshelp Posted October 21, 2022 Root Admin Posted October 21, 2022 BTW I've never seen a washing machine like that (the control panel) but it looks like a Hotpoint inside. Mihai Posted October 21, 2022 Author Posted October 21, 2022 I connected the gray wire to the red one and the washing machine starts, can I use it like this for a while?
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp Posted October 21, 2022 Root Admin Posted October 21, 2022 It's dangerous like that because it bypasses the door lock. The door can be opened at any point during wash and spin. Mihai 1 Need a repair or spare parts? Book a Repair | Spares4Appliances WARNING: Read this before attempting any diy repairs.
