Lamda
I have encountered tbe issue with this washer-dryer that after a full washing cycle, the washing machine does not spin (even though I have selected it explicitly and also have set the spin rpm). It seems that the machine goes through the spin cycle without doing much - just a few slow turns of the drum and as a a result, the clothes come out really wet. Does anyone know where to start with this issue on that machine? I’ve already brought in a technician twice for that machine in the last 5 years, and I think I am starting to get fed up with its unreliability. If I can do something myself to recover, I’d be more than happy this time around.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted September 12, 2022 Root Admin Report Share Posted September 12, 2022 Hi Lamda. If the washing machine does not spin at the end of the cycle, there are many different possible causes so it may not be simple. The easiest thing is to doublecheck that it isn't caused by an unbalanced load, or a load that is so small that the washing machine cannot balance it. In such cases the washing machine will usually just gently tumble through the spin cycle and turn off. Check out this article, Washing machine won't spin at the end of the cycle with small loads If not, and if the washing machine is pretty old then it may be that the carbon brushes on the motor have worn out. That issue and all the rest of the possibilities are listed here - Washing machine not spinning at the end of the cycle Lamda 1 Need a repair or spare parts? Lamda
I took a rather drastic route and checked the drain side. I found a plastic semi-transparent box (don't know how else to call it) that collects a small quantity of water after the pump has stopped spinning. When the pump is spinning, the water is flushed out. It seems some sort of "overflow" device? Anyway, I cleaned the entire drain side, all the way to the final connection of the flexible drain hose. Wasn't horrible but not clean either. I thought of taking away all the blockages to allow a good outflow from the washing machine. Also, I cleaned up the filter, which has sandy-like debris - didn't look good. After all that, I put a new wash in and the machine spun without problems. Not sure whether it was all that cleaning and de-blocking, but it seems to be working now. Regarding the first incident, indeed it was a one cloth wash and hence there could be the possibility of an unbalanced load. Thanks.
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted September 13, 2022 Root Admin Report Share Posted September 13, 2022 Did the plastic box have a tube connected to it at the top by any chance? If so, it might be the pressure switch. A blockage in the pressure system is one of the possible causes mentioned in the article are links to before. Need a repair or spare parts?
