It's interesting that they've started saying that. I’ll consider adjusting my advice on that. I still think it's a bad idea because you can't heat water without creating limescale unless you soften the water. In hard water areas it will definitely cause limescale if you put washing machine on hot wash cycles regularly without protection against limescale. As there are plenty of specialist washing machine cleaning products I suspect it may be better to use them as they will protect against limescale. andyr12345 1 Need a repair or spare parts? Yes that seems maybe the most sensible , if not by commercial washing machine cleaners / descalers then by environmentally friendly way - what is that by vinegar and baking soda is it ... or is it a lemon? - I am not sure to be honest I just buy the commercial washing machine cleaner or descaling liquid if I need it . We haven't got it bad here where I am .. still a bit though around the taps we get it and some in the kettle, not too bad - every month on the Hotpoint washer since 2012 just been doing the 90'c drum clean program without laundry and no washing powder or liquid in it on a drum cleaning cycle and its still going strong and heating up good on washes. I see some manufacturers of kettles now do 'limescale resistant interiors and elements' now - i wonder why they dont fit washing machines with anti-limescal heaters these days? ... maybe they do (the expensive makes) but I havent heard of them.
