Washing Machine will not drain, can't figure it out. Haven't been able to find a description of the same issue elsewhere.

Hi There,

I have a cheap (OK brand) washing machine that stopped draining about a week ago. I checked the filter and the hose as best I could and saw nothing obvious. I then removed the pump and found a friendly local mechanic who checked with a multi-meter and found it was broken.
I ordered a "universal" replacement pump. The plugs used on the old pump couldnt be found anywhere so I had to wire in the new pump using spade crimps.
Now when I turn the machine on it fills and washes as normal, and the impeller in the pump spins, but still the machine wont drain.
I have no idea what to check next.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Hi. Sorry for late reply. I have an article here that covers every possibility though I'd strongly advise you go through it methodically and look at the other articles it links to - washing machine not pumping water out
