Nimbus
Hi, My 2–3-year-old Hotpoint WMXTF 742 Extra washing making has paused twice mid program in the past 2 weeks. Pressing the start/pause button fixes this, & it completes the program. Can any of you suggest why this might be happening? I just worry that it may get worse. Many thanks. Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted May 5, 2022 Root Admin Report Share Posted May 5, 2022 Hi Nimbus. What exactly does it do when it has, "paused"? Does everything completely shut off? Does the display change at all, or does anything start flashing? And exactly what does it do when you press the stop pause button? If you could describe exactly what it is doing in the minutes before it pauses too, that might help give a clue. Need a repair or spare parts? Nimbus
Hi Andy, thank you for the reply. Today it paused with 38 minutes to go on its program. The display looked no different & was still illuminated with a 38 & did not show any error codes or anything. The start/pause button was flashing, as if pause button manually pressed, & nothing else was working, such as water pumping or drum turning. When I press the start/pause button, the washing machine carries on & completes the program like normal? This has happened twice now. I will see if I can see what it is doing both immediately before & after if it pauses again. I did read somewhere online that the most common cause is a door lock/sensor issue, or water problems with either filling, or draining. Prior to posting here, I phoned Hotpoint who said they think it a circuit board fault, & recommended a costly engineer callout, or costly extended warranty deal. Thanks again,
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted May 6, 2022 Root Admin Report Share Posted May 6, 2022 Hi. yes, I would like to know if it sticks just after it's drained the water, and exactly what it does when it resumes after pressing the start button.
