Miele W844 Spin Cycle & Draining

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I recently moved into a new house and am now a proud owner of a Miele W844 washing machine. I have just turned the machine on for its first run this week and have come into a couple of problems which I am hoping to be able to fix myself with some guidance.

Problem one - the machine will not go into a spin cycle. Problem 2 - there seems to be a leak at the point where the drain hose is attached to the U-bend.

I have just ordered a couple of new carbon brushes and dampers to replace the old ones(hoping this will solve the spin issue). Does anybody have have any other suggestions as to anything else I should be looking out for? Does anyone still own one of these? Does anyone know if the U-bend comes off the hose(I don't want to risk damaging it since a new one is pretty expensive)?

Thank in advance.

Was the Miele washing machine already installed or has it been installed since you moved in?

Hi, thank you for replying.

The Machine was already installed. Its a very old house and looks like an old machine but I am hoping to keep it going as everyone says they are solid. I have pulled it out to the middle of the kitchen for now.

Carbon brushes have arrived today so will try and replace. Hopefully that does the trick.

I've also managed to pull the Miele U-bend off and attached the hose to a universal one as it looks like the end of the drain hose is missing some sort of O-ring or gasket to prevent water splashing out before entering the Miele U-bend.

Cheers.

Thanks for update. Advice would be different depending on if it was freshly installed or not.

Let us know if brushes fix it although you should never order any brushes unless you’ve had the old ones out and can see that they need replacing. Fingers crossed.
