Catwheez
I have bought a washing machine drain pump from ebay and the prongs on it don't accurately match the little plug for them. However the prongs do have little holes in them. Is it safe to cut the two red wires from their plug and push them through the prongs of the new pump, twist them round, a bit like you do with speaker wire. I don't want to set the whole machine live and kill myself! This pic shows the new pump with the prongs. Thanks
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted March 26, 2021 Root Admin Report Share Posted March 26, 2021 Hello there. Yes and it doesn't matter which way round the wires go. alternatively you could cut the old connector off and just put new 13 amp tag connectors on. The only thing that is imperative is that at least one of them is insulated as they are so close together. If you could somehow cut the old connector in half separating the two wires and get them to fit then yes that should be fine. Need a repair or spare parts? Catwheez
thank you very much for all your help. I bought the approved part from Ransom spares as you suggested. Not able to fit at the moment though due to unforeseen medical problem, looks like I will have to pay a plumber after all! At least I have the part in hand. Thanks again.
