norm
Hi My 15 year old Miele washing machine just started making noise in the fast spin cycle and both drum and door seal get very hot. Checked dampers, springs, both good, no bearing noise or movement. I noticed that with door seal off the inner drum was not rotation in line as if it were slightly buckled (not 100% round). Would a door seal take up what is in effect a a small varying gap between the inner and outer drum? It seems to be running 1-2cm out of aligment. As said only just started so no idea if this was from new or use. Any pointers gratefully received. Thanks Norm
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted November 17, 2020 Root Admin Report Share Posted November 17, 2020 Hello there. If the door seal is getting very hot I would say that the drum must be catching on it? It is normal for drums to be not 100% round and it is normal for there to be a small varying gap though 1 to 2 cm out does sound on the large side. If the drum lip is catching on the door seal it will generate noise and heat and of course damage the seal. It should go sticky and tacky where it contacts. If the drum bearings have worn allowing the drum to move up and down all the drum spider has cracked or corroded causing the drum to lift and have play in it at one particular point on the drum then it's quite serious.
