Hotpoint BHWMD732 Clicking Drum

Recommended Posts

Hi there,

I wonder if anybody can shed any light on an issue I've been having with my (less than 12-months old) Hotpoint BHWMD732. I noticed recently that whilst the washer still works fine, its started to click, almost like a tooth clicking sound - click*click*click - which can be heard at low speeds. At first I thought it was shirt buttons catching on the glass part of the door, but I moving the drum by hand indicates its something to do with the motor, drum or bearings I don't know. I've tried to contact other owners and they don't appear to have this issue, so something isn't right I suspect. I can't see any coins or items stuck in the drum or around the rubber door seal.

I've recorded a video (you may have to turn the sound up to hear it)...

Any advice most welcome.

Aaron

Hello Aaron. In order to troubleshoot this noise you need to disconnect the washing machine from the mains, and then take off the back panel. Then if you take off the drive belt and ensure it is not catching on anything turn the drum again by hand. Is the noise still there? With the belt disconnected you can be sure that if the noise is still present that the noise is definitely coming from the drum. If the noise is not present turn the motor by hand. If the noise is present then the fault is with the motor. If it is the motor then the motor would need to come off to investigate further. It does sound like it could be a problem with the motor, but it could also be an issue with the drum pulley.
