Washing machine porthole cracked

Recommended Posts

Hi

I hope someone can help. Ive owned a Zanussi ZWHB7140P washing machine for 4 years without any issue and last week on a final spin the glass area of the door cracked. I managed to stop the machine with a couple of minutes left on the cycle but upon inspecting it i noticed a large crack through the porthole. There is also a hole at the top and some glass which obviously came out as it started to break. I cant work out what caused this as when opening the door i couldnt find anything in the washing that could have caused this.

Anyway i now need to fix this. Is it jus the porthole part i need from Zanussi? How easy is this to fix? I noticed there are different screws - some where the actual door is attached to the machine which im guessing i will need to remove and then the screws around where the porthole fits into the perimeter housing.

Can anyone guide me to which screwdriver bit i need as i havent found one i have that fits either of these screws.

Im a bit of a novice in repairs so any help is much appreciated

Thanks

Hello Paddy. They are all different, and some doors can be taken apart but some are now sealed and only come as a complete door. First thing is to check to see if the door glass is available as a spare or not. Try here Ransom Spares

Thanks. I've located a port hole I think I need from ZANUSSI. Couldn't find one any cheaper on another site. However not sure what screwdriver / bits I need as I have to remove the door and what holds the porthole in place. I think some of these screws are Torx but no idea what size despite lots of research

Probably. A set of Torx tools are essential these days, and very cheap. They are everywhere so will come in handy for loads of things.
