John Lewis give 2 year guarantee on white goods appliances

Washing machine starts but door swings open.

Recommended Posts

Recently my washing machine stopped starting, the door lock button would just flash. So after looking online I replaced the interlock mechanism which fixed the problem perfectly for a couple of weeks.

But now the washing machine registers as locked and starts but the door just swings open, if I hadn't noticed it would have flooded the kitchen.

I assumed the replacement interlock of dodgy so I replaced it again but to no avail.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you.

The door shouldn’t be able to come open even if the door lock wasn’t locking. The door lock only prevents someone from opening the door. If the door comes open on its own it can’t be closing properly and latching properly or the door lock isn’t fitted correctly. Check the latch on the door. It should have a spring on it holding it in position. Try spraying the latch and door lock with WD40.
