Help with Zanussi Aquacycle 6kg

Recommended Posts

I have moved house and connected everything up to my washing machine but when I switch on the power button, nothing happens for around 5 seconds then all the buttons flash with a continuous beep and doesn't stop until I switch the power back of. Any ideas what I need to do to fix this? Thanks.

Maybe it's trying to take in water and timing out? Check that the water tap is actually turned on and no kink in the hoses when machine is pushed back. If all looks OK remove the fill hoses and place hose in a bucket or the sink then turn on the water tap to ensure water is actually present. Sometimes those little red and blue plastic taps are faulty and turn but don't actually turn on the tap.

When it starts a washing machine usually pumps out for a very short time and then tries to take in water. If there’s a fault or there’s no water available it will normally time out with an error.

Are you saying you can hear water going  in when you start a cycle and then it times out?

No. When I turn the power on, nothing happens at all for around 20-30 seconds then it just beeps constantly with all the lights flashing. The thing is, I don't think it's trying to take in water because I haven't set it on a wash at all, it happens with and without the door closed. When I say I heard water, I mean when I screwed the connection to the water pipe behind the machine (on the wall in the kitchen) and turned the switch.

Is the pump running if you put it on a drain or spin program?

That's the thing, I have no way of knowing. I can't even put a drain or spin program on because the beeping starts almost straight away and renders anything I do pointless. No buttons work when I press them, they just all start flashing and beeping and it stays that way.

Unfortunately it could be a lot of things. Just check the simple stuff like that the pump filter isn't blocked and the door is closed properly but after that it might need an engineer. Also worth trying it in a different wall socket just in case there's a power issue with it.

Yeah...I've tried everything and still the same. I'm 99 percent sure it's an issue with the computer/front panel. I'll have to get an engineer out. Thanks for all your help though.

I had a washing machine repair man out today (not a Zanussi technician) and he seems to think the machine has took a knock when being moved (I moved house recently) and the computer has malfunctioned. He said I might as well throw it out. I kind of agree. I do think it can be fixed/reset but a Zanussi engineer would cost well over a hundred pound and that makes me think it might be worth getting a new machine after all.
