Jussy
Hi all! My 4 month old washing machine has suddenly started leaving black marks (like attached) all over my white bed linen . After the first experience of this, I ran the machine on the hottest wash with nothing in it. Then I put some hotpoint cleaning detergent in and ran it on the 60 wash (as instructions recommend). I then washed some white clothes in the machine and no marks were left, nor were they left on my colour wash.. a week later and I have washed my other white bed linen and the same marks have been left! Called zanussi who suggested either a lighter load or heavier load to test it before sending an engineer out (as if they find nothing wrong I could be charged..). Obviously I’m reluctant to keep ruining my white items with this black stuff! The machine has coped with the load of my bed linen for the first 3 months of using it so not sure how it can be a weight issue. please could anyone maybe suggest what this could be or how I can resolve? many thanks in advance! Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted January 23, 2018 Root Admin Report Share Posted January 23, 2018 It's extremely unusual for a washing machine so young to be causing marks. The main source of marks on laundry from a washing machine is the small gap between the revolving drum and the door seal. If you peel it back check that there isn't any build up of grease, grime or limescale. Laundry can get caught in this gap and dragged around picking up marks. If it's a washer dryer also check at the top of the door seal where the big flange is that the hot air on the drying cycle comes into the drum. Other than that I can only advise carefully eliminating all the points in the following articles - Grease marks on clothes after washing Washing not getting clean in washing machine Need a repair or spare parts?
