Missing Plate underneath machine - is this dangerous?

Hello All, hoping someone will know the answer to my query ..... have just had to buy a 2nd hand washing machine, which came through a reputed charity shop and has been tested for electrical safety. However once home, realised that there is no plate underneath [NOT the kick plate, I mean the whole of the underneath of the machine] the machine [so just a big hole and you can view the inner working parts straight through it, whole of underneath of machine is open]. I was wondering if anyone would know if this is dangerous please? I know the purpose of the plate is to reduce noise etc, not worried about that,just don't want to be in danger. Hello there. Traditionally all washing machines had a completely open base. Some of them these days can have a plate covering it up. The main reason for this is to fit a float switch that can detect water leaks, and as you say to potentially cut down on noise. I think it's unlikely that someone would have removed a base plate and potentially a float switch mechanism too.  I can't be 100% sure of course but the chances are it never had one to start with.
