mentalmycroft
Hi all, I have a fairly old Beko machine that completes the fast spin & drain cycle when empty, but will not do it when there's any washing in. It also sounds very laboured when spinning - kinda like rotorblades on a helicopter if that makes sense? I'm pretty resigned to needing to replace it but any ideas to fix would be welcome. Have checked waste pipes & the U-Bend for blockages and all seems clear (which I guess it would be if it's draining while empty) Thanks
Root Admin Whitegoodshelp (Andy) Posted September 14, 2017 Root Admin Report Share Posted September 14, 2017 It could be a few things but main suspect would be worn carbon brushes (if fitted). If one or both wear down and stop making contact the motor can sometimes run reasonably ok with no loading but can't turn laundry. The motor can run erratically and cough and splutter. It can also make a crackling grating sound (which is the motor sparking). Other things such as a slack belt (rare) or a more serious fault on the motor , or connection and electronic parts. This article explains about carbon brushes, it's about Hotpoint brushes but relevant for any carbon brushes in any washing machine - carbon brushes diagnostics Need a repair or spare parts?
